Great bakery with a good selection of items. Staff was friendly. I ordered a custard filled pastry, apple fritter and chocolate muffin. The apple fritter was lite and what I felt was the perfect amount of sweetness and apple. The chocolate muffin was moist and not heavy. Custard filled pastry just really hit the spot. Custard was creamy with a lite vanilla flavor. The 4 pastries were $9.75, well worth the price. Highly recommend.
Rated as a top 5 bakery in Minnesota several times pretty much says it all for Hanisch Bakery! It's as good as advertised and then some. Tucked into a shop in downtown Red Wing, its location will take you back to the hood ol' days.
I like this little bakery! The raised donuts are legit and the danishes are pretty good too. They offer seasonal baked goods, such as apple decorated sugar cookies, along with the traditional. If you're in need of a cake, they have those as well. Definitely worth a visit when in Red Wing!
Voted number one donut in Minnesota so had to try it out! The place was very busy, but the line moved quick. Large selection of sweet and savory baked goods. Connected to coffeeshop and diner.
The pumpkin spice donut was perfect- great crust, not too sweet. Great Apple Fritters with caramel too! We will be back!

We ordered Donuts and Cookies from Hanisch Bakery for our wedding. They're responses to my multitude of emails was astounding! They worked with me to make sure I had exactly what I wanted. They have so many options for donuts it made it hard to narrow it down. We ordered 100 donuts and 100 cookies in assorted flavors and about 95% of them were eaten at our wedding! And there were a whole host of other desserts to choose from as well! I received so many compliments from my guests. I wish I lived closer so I could order from them more often!
