About

When it comes to fun and learning, Hands On is “the place to go.” The Museum is a unique community resource that serves as an exciting, educational gathering place where children, parents and teachers can learn and play.

Story

Come play with us! As the largest children's museum in the Pacific Northwest, we celebrate play and believe in its importance in early learning. With our eight galleries and fabulous art studio, we encourage children and their parents to play and learn all about science, nature, and art, in settings inspired by our beautiful Northwest. Our Outdoor Discovery Center, a half-acre of outdoor exhibits, expands the opportunities for play and learning.

This place is great! My daughter had a blast! So we’re on the first floor there's so much to do. Then we go outside there's also a lot to do out there. We were about to leave, and I saw there was a second floor. This is the best museum I've been to so far in Washington State.

Kids and I loved our day here. Lots to do, kids ranged from 7-12 and all were occupied. We had a blast riding the trikes outside even though it was a cold day and noses were red! The steps up the lighthouse are slim and steep but find for older kids and more active adults. Climbing within the structure to the upper floor was a treat for the kids and I was a tad disappointed that I couldn’t climb in there with them! The craft options kept all three kids occupied for a good few hours while I grabbed a quick cuppa in the cafe. Win! Make sure you pay for more parking than you anticipate as I had to run down and add more twice...

This is a great place for kids. The clientele is generally very kind and respectful, and the staff always is. The primary reason I bring my child here is to help socialize her, which isn't an easy task for a male caregiver. The only thing preventing this from being a five star review really is my kid's age - less than a year. While there is an infant area, it's just not the primary focus of the place and it's usually kids significantly older who are around. We always end up spending less time here than it deserves because of how quickly the youngest ones tire. I'd recommend bringing children here. The exhibits are built like playgrounds and it is quite up to parents to direct education, but the opportunities are definitely there.

My daughter and I especially love the Sensory Play events. It’s perfect for her to be comfortable and explore at her pace during the special hours. The staff is very helpful and compassionate to the needs of our family. I believe her name is Ella, she instantly informed me of various opportunities that are offered. I would also like it if this event was offered twice a month because we would be in attendance every time.

I love this museum and it has amazing activities. I would give it 5 stars if my kids were older. Instead, I have visited this place twice. My son was 3 the first time we went - I lost him. He was on a completely different level because he was doing the slide and there are multiple entries and levels to it. The second time we visited was just a couple weeks ago. It was difficult to watch my 4 year old and 1 year old. I don't have to worry about my 4 year old wandering off as much but my 1 year old would easily escape through one entrance and end up 50 feet away from me and out of site in seconds. I feel like there are too many entrances to each area (except the area with the fire truck and police truck). This place is fun - but have one adult per kid when you go.
