Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa – Toronto Avenue Road Spa

Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience. The massage therapist did not listen/understand my request for a gentle massage and continued with a very aggressive treatment. I shared my feelings with the receptionist who was most understanding. Long story short, I requested a phone call from the owner/manager several times, with no followup. I have since cancelled my membership. Still, no call. It doesn't seem like the owners care about their customers.

I had last appointment and the staff was so much in rush to close. I asked for add on or any upgrades but I was not allowed saying add one not possible as you have only 50 min. Seriously? Aromatherapy would take the same time as original 50 min massage. The massage itself was more oil rubbing than actual massage. The therapist also had long nails which hurt me multiple times. I did not feel relaxed. Had very bad experience.

Had the most terrible experience here today. I had gotten a gift card from a friend for a massage from this company. This was the location that was closest to my place so I set up an appointment for the Sunday morning before my birthday. I called for an appointment on the Friday night and the receptionist who took my call asked me for the gift card information and number which I provided him and he told me that my appointment was booked and let me know that there was $100 on the gift card and that because a massage was 100+tax that I would need to pay for the tax on the day of, which I was fine with. On the day of my massage, they asked for the gift card before my appointment which I gave to them and then after my massage when I went to pay for the remaining amount they said that there was a zero balance on the gift card. They kept me waiting around at the desk for almost half an hour after my massage trying to figure out why there was no value on the card - the receptionist also took two calls for appointments during this time which lasted about 5 minutes each while I had to stand there and wait. I finally just said that I wasn't going to waste anymore of my time waiting around for this and told them to bill the full amount to my credit card. I think I was either scammed by this place because the receptionist from the Friday night said that there was a $100 balance on the card and then magically there wasn't on the Sunday OR the people who work at this location don't know how to do their jobs. Either way, what should have been a relaxing experience turned out to be a really stressful one and my morning was ruined. The staff did nothing to mitigate the stress of this experience - especially since none of this was my fault and I was supposed to be enjoying a gift. All the receptionist did was to tell me to come and look at the zero balance on her screen which I didn't really understand why that would help matters. I would never return here - there are too many other good places in the neighborhood that actually value the experience of their customers.

To my surprise I had a wonderful experience at this location. I had read reviews first and based on the reviews I was skeptical. Scheduling was easy. When I arrived the gentleman at the front welcomed me, had me fill out my paperwork and offered me water. My RMT Rowena was AMAZING! She had very firm pressure and asked me throughout the massage how the pressure was and if I was okay. Her technique was soothing and helped to alleviate the tension held in my shoulders and neck. I will be going back to see her. The entrance presentation is done well but I wish they put that effort into the rooms with a hook for clothing or bags and a mirror. Overall I would recommend this location.

This has become our regular place for massages. To get the best experience, make sure you know what you like and request it. Facilities are great, relaxing music throughout and heated massage tables
