Very nice pool, employees are nice. Beach area and docks are in such bad shape. Dumpster was full and the wind was blowing the smell across the camp sites.
We loved the privacy here, the playground, and lake. We would absolutely stay again.
Home away from home where everyone is like family! I have been coming here for years and always have an amazing time. Relaxing quiet beautiful sites. Kayakes and canoeing available for on the lake. Clean sites and facilities. Covered pool. Each site has electric and water. Grassy areas in each site and shade. Parks for kids to play. Porta potties around camp and building with plumbing bathrooms and showers. Marge and Dan are always amazing to deal. Highly recommend!
Staff is very friendly. It’s a great campground to get away from reality. Great Lake to go kayaking, fishing, or boating on. The showers & Bathrooms are clean as are the camp sites. We loved the privacy from the neighbors. All around a great first experience camping.
As other reviews state, when you drive in there is some rusty, broke down vehicles. The grounds could use some cleaning up. The bathrooms were average, didn’t use the showers. The wood for campfires was wet so we struggled to have a steady campfire over the weekend. Yes, there are rules, yes, some are strict. That being said... the campground itself was quiet and full, the seasonals are friendly and we chatted with many campers over the weekend. Water and electric on site were no issue, campsites were large and wooded. The lake looked nice, the pool was refreshing and clean. We will return for adult weekends. I felt there wasn’t much that would’ve kept my kids busy; a preteen and a teen, but for me that wasn’t a deterrent.
The road into this place is trashy: old tires, beat up rain barrels, metal storage containers that were dumped wherever. Such a mess. It was just as bad inside the campground. More trash, old farm equipment everywhere. The kids were dirty - from digging in the dirt/sand by the swing set? The upkeep of this place lent itself to trashy, low class behavior by the campers: we woke up in the middle of the night to hear a drunken argument at one of the other camp sites. Way too much swearing and shouting for the "quiet" hours. And from the campsite near ours, we heard the sounds of loud sex - again, this was during the middle of the night. Not what we expected to hear at a "family friendly" campground like this. We left as soon as it was light - really made a run for it so that we would not have to use the stinky bathrooms one more time. This is in a nice location - has the potential to be nice. But it is such a trashy, noisy place - we will NOT return.
This place is permanently closing. We may have been the last guests to stay there. Very kind staff. The permanent residents had to say their goodbyes. Very sad. Seemed like good people. It was very quiet and felt like we were in the woods. Thank you.
The owners of the campground were super friendly and helpful! You can tell they really care about the place. They have a lot available- firewood, ice, showers, a pool - and the area was very well taken care of and cleaned. We stayed on a tent site, and it was quite a bit smaller than other campgrounds I've stayed at. They also do not accept credit/debit and do not have an ATM which was extremely inconvenient but understandable. We were a little nervous about staying somewhere we've never heard of, and the dirt road to get there made us even more worried, but it is definitely a cute, nice little campground! The view of the lake from any site is beautiful and we saw lots of wildlife. I'd definitely recommend this place and stay there again.
The owner was very rude and confrontational. We made one wrong turn and immediately called us stupid and disrespectful. The campground was a mess with junk lying all around. Would not recommend for camping unless you want tetanus.
Driving down the driveway to the entrance if the campground we noted the grotesque amount if junk scattered in the woods, from old broken down trucks, boats, and travel trailers. In addition, to the mosquito infested swampy area. Yet we were still optimistic that once we were beyond the woods it would improve. NOPE the junk continued alone with the owners wife who was completely rude! Horrible first impression! We slowly pulled up to the stop sign and was reading the requirements to visitors when this women briskly came to our vehicle and snapped "Did you read the SIGN"! It cost us $2 per person in our vehicle to visit our family member for 2hrs. We then had to park outside the camping area by rusty old broken down vehicles on a gravel road. It gets better yet! We visited our family for about 30min and the kids ages 14-16 wanted to use the pool. The kids have to be with an adult, which is understandable because of liability. So we made our way to the pool with drinks in hand and upon walking to the pool we were again pounced on by this Nazi women from before rudely telling us not to bring our drinks into the pool area. Which is understandable, but again we can read the sign posted by the pool. The pool area was nice, it was a dome covered underground pool, which was surprisingly clean and we'll maintained. The only problem was it was over a hundred degrees inside and while you watched your child you were sweating as if you were in a sauna. So another couple opened the garage door to the pool to get some cool air. The temperature outside was about 80 and it helped to open the door so you would not die of heatstroke! NOPE same Nazi lady was pissed we opened the door! She screamed at us grabbed any beverages we had outside the pool area and placed them on a nearby picnic table. Told us we needed to sit inside the sauna pool area or go swimming if it was too hot! At the time we were enjoying out family conversations and the kids were in the pool having fun with their cousins. That was abruptly put to an end by this women's rude behavior and not only did we leave the pool but so did the other couple watching their little ones swim. As far as the sites at the campground it was ok, nothing special, just a cut grass lot with electric and water hookup. Some of the hookups were in need of repair and only one vehicle could be parked at the site not on the grass. We are seasoned campers with a travel trailer and would rather give our money to our state parks. The sites are clean and the park rangers are very friendly, with no drama. We would definitely not recommend camping here and from what we were told they were the only campground not booked on memorial weekend.
