Gopher Hole Museum

About

Looking for something different to do?? It does not get much more different than The World Famous Gopher Hole Museum!! Affordable fun for all!

Story

Hibernating for the winter...please call to make arrangements for showings 403 631-2133.

Since 1996 Clem T. Gopher, his best girl Ellie-May and their kin have been welcoming groups of visitors, large and small, from around the world to 208 First Street, Torrington for an insiders look of the den.

A giant statue of Clem (he is such a narcissist) stands at the entrance of town...just to let you know you have the right place. Our displays demonstrate some of the day to day activities in and around our little hamlet. We have also included a walking tour of some or our favorite family members immortalized on the hamlets fire hydrants. Perhaps you will find some special interest in the scrapbook of letters from our friends, The Kennedy's and Peta, among others.

Due to hibernation, the museum is seasonal. However, we have some humans that would happily open up shop for you with only a phone call. So don't let the snow stop you...come on down and visit a spell!!

Nestled between the exciting cities of Calgary and Edmonton, with majestic Banff to our West, the Royal Tyrell Dinosaur Museum and the Hoodoos to our East, Torrington is the idyllic prairie landscape where you can stretch your legs and smell the fresh, country air. So what's stopping you? Gopher it!!

I'm not usually into dioramas, but if that's your thing, you will absolutely adore this museum. Very well done and excellent attention to detail, though a little bizarre for outsiders like me. Also close to 'Pizza n' more, eh?' if you want to grab a pizza before or after.

Cutest museum in Alberta. Learn about the history and culture of the people of Torrington (a very small Prairie town) through these pesky little stuffed animals (don't pick a side until talking to the museum attendee, reading the museum correspondence on display, and going through the dioramas carefully). Worth the visit if done together with Tyrrel Museum in Drumheller.

Amazing. It was an hour an a half to get there and completely worth it. It's small but I could have stayed for hours. New favourite attraction in Alberta hands down!

Very cute place! The exhibits were funny. A really one of a kind sort of place.

In a tiny town off the beaten track, it's quite the sight to see gophers hunting ducks, getting married, gardening and cutting hair. The gopher hole museum is a community center of pride that is contributed to by many people. The volunteers are proud and happy to answer any questions. For a wacky and fun afternoon, this made for a great little road trip! Thank you!
