Golden Joy Express

My 11yr old son says, "wow! Best Chinese food we've ever had!" Sweet and sour pork was very good, as was the chicken fried rice, and the chicken curry was second-to-none-excellent. Wonderfully flavourful with just enough kick to delight the tastebuds, without being too "fire-breathing dragon". Friendly service when we arrived to pick up our order. Kudos to the new owners, we will be back. If you were scared away by the old Flamingo, guaranteed it's safe to return now to this location for good "standard fare" Chinese take-out.

Very delicious. Asked to take it easy on the sauce, and everything was perfect. Not oily, but still flavourful and good selection of non-pork options. Fresh vegetables in their chowmein and just a great meal for when you know you want North American Chinese food. Fast delivery & easy online payment. Will definitely order again!

We had a large order for a birthday party. Golden Joy was the only NW Chinese restaurant open in the afternoon on a Sunday that we could find online. We placed the order online and one of the owner's followed up with us to confirm. We got three FREE additional dishes for our order because of the size though it only takes a $35 purchase to get a free dish. We collected our food, which was a little delayed due to the size of the order and GJ only having one cook on at the time. The food was great! Portions were large and one of the owner's called me later in the afternoon to follow up! This is a family-run restaurant with all the trappings of first-generation Canadians making their way in Calgary business. I highly recommend Golden Joy, especially for catered meals considering you can purchase food in large tins. Give it a shot and I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Delicious with generous portions! I tried Golden Joy for the first time tonight, and was pleasantly surprised. The food quality was excellent with fresh taste and quality ingredients. The portions were bountiful. Something specific: I ordered Shrimp with Cashew Nuts and veggies as part of their Meal Deal Special. With other restaurants, this dish has tiny little shrimp. Not so here. The shrimp were huge, fresh and delicious. The wonton soup was terrific as well. Over 15 wontons in the order! This location has been plagued over the years with many failed businesses. Here's hoping Golden Joy can break that pattern with their great food and friendly staff.

Really good food. The portion sizes are very good. The staff are very friendly. Ordered from this place a few times for delivery. They ALWAYS get our address wrong and they are just down the road from us. Delivery has ALWAYS been more than 45 minutes because they don't get the address right.

The Lemon chicken is pretty good. Everything tasted good and arrived pretty hot, that's where the compliments end. The fried rice was very oily, visibly so. The chicken balls batter was partly raw and the chicken was cold. For second rate grub, this was too expensive.

Great tasting food. I haven't been able to eat Chinese food for a long time because it makes me sick too much grease and MSG but this food I can eat and enjoy! Their specials are very reasonably priced and the portions are very generous.

I order there about every 2 weeks. Food is a little expensive but the servings are quite large so the value is good. They sometimes throw in a spring roll or two when they recognise me on the phone - they seem like nice people so I'm going to keep going there. Would recommend.

The taste of most of the food was decent, but everything was basically dripping in oil. Not only that, but the chicken and squid we ordered both tasted like they marinated it in salt for 24 hours, it was nearly impossible to even swallow.

Very good food. Best ive had in this city. Containers come very full. Delivery came at a good time. Came hot. Not leaks. Great comfort food for a bad week. Will order again.
