Such unique flavours to choose from with their donuts. My favourites were definitely the strawberry shortcake, buku pandan, and chocolate mango. Leche flan was also quite interesting as the actual flan wasnt overly sweet. The sweetness was in the caramel drizzle. Super friendly staff that were helpful in choosing the flavours to try.
There is no shortage of artisanal doughnut shops in North York, but FK Dulce Bakery's nod to Filipino flavours certainly provides a unique take on these deep fried sweets. This is best showcased in their leche flan $3.50 doughnut, the yeasty soft pastry wrapped around a thick slab of eggy flan and drizzled with a sticky caramel glaze that is so indulgent. It's a rich dessert that was oh so satisfying and unique - the combination of custard and pastry was fantastic and already makes me yearn for more. My first bite into the jammy ube $2.99 was interesting and unexpected. I'm not sure I liked the feeling of the purple yam filling flooding onto the roof of my mouth and wished it was captured as a jelly centre similar to the Bavarian doughnut - it's messy so take extra care if ever eating the treat while wearing white. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the added coconut with the yam, which created an almost black sesame essence and the filling was the perfect sweetness. It's not just the flavours that make FK Dulce tasty, the dough for the pastry was great having a cakey yet light consistency. Take the matcha white chocolate $2.25, the doughnut appears like a honey dip except glazed with melted white chocolate and matcha powder. Yet, when you bite into it, the dough doesn't seem hollow and dry like your typical honey dip, instead there's a chewiness to it, almost like it incorporates a touch of mochi without becoming dense. The Bavarian cream $2.50 was probably the least Filipino influenced, but still fantastic, especially for those who appreciates a Boston cream. I'd say the Bavarian is more custard than cream, silky and thick and was my husband's favourite of the bunch.
Yelp Elite Global Goodies event. Came here today to try some Filipino inspired donuts. There's four flavours. Ube Macapuno - a mellow, nutty, vanilla-like flavoured donut made from purple yam jam with jelly-like coconut sport; *Matcha - white chocolate dipped donut and then dipped in a light, powdered green tea, perfect for those who do not have a sweet tooth *Leche Flan - a rich, toasted sugar caramel flavour from the topping and the base which is the caramel custard flan tastes very milky, perfectly sweet and lightly eggy, drizzled with caramel; *Bavarian Creme - which is their best seller, is a donut generously filled with rich vanilla custard and dusted with powdered sugar. I tried the Leche Flan and wow what an amazing donut. This is probably my favourite Filipino dessert and combining the egg custard with a caramel donut is genius. Beautifully crafted donut. The other donuts also look spectacular but of course I will need to try them later. Pure sugar rush and will definitely come back and try their other donuts. The shop is also sells some imported Filipino grocery items like pancit canton, corned beef, chicharron, longanisa, marinated bangus, Mango ice cream, etc. There is also refrigerated section for grab and go drinks, slices of cake, cheesy ensaymada, and other snack items. They also serve coffee, and bubble tea as well. Overall great looking shop, great donut and cake selection. Come check them out if you need some desserts for a special occasion or to satisfy your sweet tooth. Thank you FK Dulce Bakery and Yelp toronto for organizing these events. Cheers
Loving the Filipino fusion flavours that they have for the donuts! I know they have an assortment of flavours to choose from but I chose to go with the Filipino style treats fused into donuts! Got the ube, leche flan, buko pandan and the mango bravo. My fave has got to be the ube with that load of paste right scooped right into the middle and being exposed at the top too! Super smooth paste and ube just tastes so good and in a donut. Even better! Also love the leche flan as there a thin layer of syrup under the chunk of flan itself. The leche flan in the donut was a nice balance as the donut is plain and you get the sweetness from the syrup and another layer of texture from the flan. Went pretty early in the morning, but looks like they keep bringing out a couple times throughout the day, so you’re bound to get fresh batches of donuts at any time! They’re located within a “convenience store” which basically has a lot of Filipino prepackaged snacks. They also carry rice bowls, fresh made snacks like kwek kwek and kikiam, as well as cakes for pre order. Service was quick as I already made up my mind what I wanted to order. Definitely gonna go back to get more of these delicious donuts! Follow me on IG @thirst_and_taste for better pics, vids and more amazing content!
The staff is great. They also have a great selection of flavours. The important point is how well do you deliver when you hv flavours like pandan and leche and ube. I found the place to be ordinary. We tried - Bavarian Cream, Ube, Leche Flan and Toasted Almond. My fav was the ube one, but others were alright. Do try them but i think they need to up their game if they want people to travel far to get their stuff. Sidenote: they also stock interesting grocery items.
Certainly worth a visit! Not only are the staff incredibly kind, their donuts are seriously delicious! Will definitely be returning to try different flavours and items on the menu.
When I first went to the store, I love how cozy it was. It really felt like I was in the Philippines because of the foods they sell as well as the kindness they show to their customers. Anyway, I personally loved their Toasted Almond Donuts!!! Like really, it's so good!
Amazing cakes, exceptional service! Here's my story: I ordered an Ube De Leche cake from them in the summer and although it was terrific, I ended up with the wrong order of Ube Macapuno. No big deal, I still had a cake for my friend's anniversary so although I was disappointed, I didn't really complain about it to the staff in the store, however, management reached out to me the same day with an apology, and an offer for a replacement cake for when I needed it. Fast forward to this weekend, when those same friends had a birthday. I messaged them on IG & had no issues calling in the offer. I picked up the cake, and my friends loved it! Win-win-win. We got to try 2 different cakes and we are all fans now! They drive in from Buffalo, but she knows we can pre-order before they come so they can take stuff home. Thank you FK Dulce for keeping your word and for the amazing cakes!!
Really sweet place. Tried there donuts for first time and I was satisfied with my order. Bought double chocolate and strawberry cheesecake flavours, would definitely visit to try their unique flavours!!
THE BEST DONUTS IN TORONTO first time here when I saw their cute lil front as I was driving. Went inside and greeted by friendly staff. My eyes went straight to their donuts so I ordered Buko Pandan and Almond. OMFG I kid you not, it was glorious!! I even forgot to take a photo of them sorry. But I'll definitely return for another round. Totally recommended, hidden gem in the city!!
