Glebe Community Centre

Attractive community centre in a large, old, nicely renovated building. It may have been a church or masonic temple in the past. The event I was at was in the large hall up the central staircase. The space is bright and airy with a high large domed ceiling. Tall windows on 2 sides of the hall let plenty of sunlight in and the interior lighting is excellent.

I missed the monthly social dance event held in the beautifully domed hall. This dance program provides seniors good exercise opportunity as well as social interaction. Too bad that the social dance event is put on hold because of COVID-19 pandemic. I hope that the pandemic will be over soon and our life can get back to normal. Thumbs-up to Health Ottawa for a great job to control the pandemic!

I am very happy that Glebe resumes the social dance program. The dance floor has been fixed and the floor is smooth and nice. The only thing I hope that the Glebe management can make change is the hours for the social dance. It used to run from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The new hour is now 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. For those who live in the west end, half an hour drive is required to get there if the traffic is not congested. Winter time driving is worst. We normally spent at least 15 minutes to find parking spot. If we park farther, it even takes us another 10 minutes to walk to the building. In the past, if we miss 20 minutes, we still have 2.5 hours left for the dance time. With the new hours, there isn’t any time left for dancing. I really hope that Glebe management can reconsider the hours for the social dance. Much appreciated! This is very good venue for social dance. Ottawa seniors need exercise program to work out the body!

Great Center for an elevator. I took part in an event there and it was very nice.

I only stopped in once - for tea after the ‘house tour’ - so this review should not be overly relied on, but it just seemed like a great place. Lots of wonderful activities for youth and seniors. When I retire in Ottawa sometime in the not too distant future I look forward to being a part of such a community center.
