Such a decent place to have some good breakfast, as you walk in they tend to you quickly and your order is taken and you receive it pretty fast. The skillet tasted okay, it was a bit on the soft side. I like the bacon crunchy and the potatoes crunchy too, it was a bit too soft but tasty. The mickey mouse pancakes had my daughter's belly nice and full. The service is very quick and very polite.
Delicious food and kind, quick service. Not much to ask for in a place to eat! Our waters and coffees were always topped off, and we were checked on the perfect number of times. We heard great reviews from friends, and we have no choice but to strongly agree. We will definitely be back at some point.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: YesDelivery: NoCurbside pickup: No
George's Family Restaurant is the perfect place for breakfast or lunch. Truly one of the last real diner's in Oak Park. Amazing cooks, attentive staff and friendly greetings at the door. Menu is filled with breakfast favorites from simple toast and eggs to fruit based crepes. It's easy to pass over mainstays like waffles, corned beef hash and my favorite; 3 eggs, French toast and sausage. Kids will love the generous whipped cream and smiley pancakes. Adults will enjoy endless cups of coffee and hustling waitstaff. Saturday and Sunday's are busy so get there before 10 am to avoid the crowd. Weekend brunch, weekday lunch or just need to do work is no problem at George's Family Restaurant. Features: No masks needed.
My experience at george’s was awful. Half of my group where people of color and we felt as though our service was drastically different because of it. My party had to wait at least 20 minutes compared to the other white patrons around us, and when our food finally arrived it was inedible and disgusting. Then at the end of our meal we received the wrong bill, and when receiving the correct bill and attempting to pay the owner of the restaurant tried to swindle us out of cash when paying!! Saying “give me ten dollars because it’s all messed up the way you’ve done it now”. Our experience with staff, was extremely unprofessional and racially motivated. Definitely will not be coming back.
Nice place. Coffee was good Espresso was very good. Generous portions. Food was a bit bland. The cream of broccoli soup was tasty I enjoyed the pieces of broccoliFood: 3/5
First of all, the servant was very nice. Also George is very kind and warm. The navy bean soup is the best soup I ever had. I would go back for sure.
Solid restaurant for breakfast. Plenty of options for those who have difficulty deciding on a meal. ; I had the biscuits and gravy + eggs. The gravy was thick, though somewhat bland given how much sausage accompanied it. And I grew up with the meal being strictly savory, so the biscuits being slightly sweet was not to my liking. That’s stylistic, though, so you might think otherwise. My partner had a vastly different dish, and they loved every bit of it. So, while the place was not my favorite, I wouldn’t hesitate to try it again because the menu is so expansive.
Today will be my first and last time eating from this establishment the only thing that was good was the sausages! Hash browns were disgusting, eggs had a slice of cheese on top wasn’t even melted and pancakes didn’t taste fresh
The food is good. This is a great breakfast spot. They have plenty of tables and are very fast. Ended up here one morning when a place closer to my house had a 20 minute wait. But im really glad i discovered this place.Food: 5/5
First time at George's Family Restaurant and I gotta say... What an impression. The menu options are plentiful and there's a great variety to choose from. My buddy and I mistakenly ordered an option instead of a skillet. In less than five minutes, our skillets were placed in front of us. This place not only made us a priority, but continued to ensure that the food was to our liking. Thank you for the accomodations!
