As an aspiring young entrepreneur who had worked hard in restaurants in the late 1970's, Tom wanted to share his love for Italian food with people through his Gelsosomo's Jel-sah-so-mos Pizzeria restaurant concept. We went in for an early dinner. We were greeted immediately. Our order was taken right away. Our appetizer was hot right out of the oven. Same thing with our pizza! Delicious meal.Recommended dishesSausage Pizza
The "Popeye" specialty pizza never disappoints; it's amazing! They do need to update their menu to state the fried pickles are now chips and not the spears fried in dill covered batter new ones are good, the former were out of this world. Just sayin'. Anyway, love this place! : 5+ stars!Food: 5/5
Here I am with some friends on our search for the perfect pizza. We are trying out 4 different types of pizza. Pepperoni, sausage and ham. The works, sausage and cheese and then the deep dish. I am always wanting an awesome deep dish Also some appetizers were purchased for taste. A couple basic things , but the thing that was different was the shrimp jammers. Think jalapeño popper from Arby's but change the big jalapeño for shrimp stuffed with the cheese and jalapeño bits Brought 3 new peeps with us. We judge 3 categories. Atmosphere: 3.5 out of 5 cute , but like a lot of different ideas under one roof Food: 3 out 5 the sauce was very bitter on the regular pan pizza's but was more flavorful on the deep dish Overall experience 3 not worth the hour wait but it was OK. Not something I would drive all the way out here for again. *there was a shift change so we got forgotten a little and a couple peeps sat with empty drinks, I never got my refill and my niece waited forever for sugar packets for her tea.*
Leaving a bad review isn’t something that I like to do because I work in the food industry but I was utterly disappointed with the service I received in this establishment. We got seated promptly and it seemed a little busy. We got seated at the exact same time as a party of 4. I had a party of 2. Our orders were taken at the exact same time. All we ordered was a medium two topping pizza and French fries. We waited over an hour. The tables that were sat after us received there food and we still didn’t receive our pizza. I’m a very patient person and we were given false promises that the pizza would be out and it didn’t happen. The failure comes from management. The manager didn’t apologize to us about the inconvenience; didn’t even speak to us. Who ever they were sat in the office and did nothing. At the restaurant I work at we take consumer satisfaction very serious and unfortunately this establishment didn’t care. No one tried to make things right and we were still charged for the fries we ate. Paying for the fries isn’t a problem but if this happened at my restaurant the order would be compted and the manager would give out a gift card or try to make this better. It also didn’t help that me being a person of color with the other member of our party watching every white person in the restaurant eat while we waited and waited and waited didn’t help either. I will not be returning again.
Worse food and rudest staff in Indiana. Ordered a full order of ravioli for $18.00, a half order of spaghetti and Primo nochos for delivery and paid $60.00. Received 4 ravioli, spaghetti with a 1/4 cup of sauce and nachos with very little cheese and very, little meat. All food was cold and unbeatable. Food was placed on the ground and no one rang the bell or knocked.dd When I called the person was confused and did not know what she was doing or saying. I asked for a manager and was told they didn't deliver my food. They must have sold my order to someone to deliver it because my on line order says delivery. I asked them to pick up the food and refund the $60.00. She yelled at me said they couldn't do that and hung up. Don't order or ever eat there again.
I have been a lover of this pizza since I was in high school. It was an Aurileos Pizza originally. My family got pizza from there every Friday evening. It was the absolute best pizza to us hands down. Then we continued our patronage up until this last week of the year, 2022. The pizza was burned and only a small bit of the pizza was actually decent. We have had inconsistant pizzas from there most of 2022. I think their rein of Best Pizza is over? We probably will not order another pizza from there for a while, if that. I sure hope that they can get it back soon. I dont know, but I wonder if its because young people just dont care these days and work ethics are changing?
First, If you're not a local you're not going to like this stuff. It's the taste is 98% salt cracker with ketchup and charm cheddar being microwaved for 20 seconds too long. I tried this and could not taste a difference between the two. For my tastebuds they were identical. Second, this "pizza" is extremely expensive. The quality just isn't there and I don't understand how it's possible to sell such a poor quality product for such a high price, in a low income area. I haven't met anyone who isn't local thatikes this place.
The quality here has really gone down hill. This pizza should NEVER have been served. The pizza is burnt, crust is so hard that you can't even bite into the edges. Even the cheese has a burnt crust on it.
Great pizza and like anything else you pay what you get for but their pizzas well worth it along with a lot of other their products in their service with a dine in is great very friendly staff
I WOULD LIKE TO SAY IVE BEEN ORDERING PIZZA FROM HERE SINCE I LIVED IN THE TRAILER BEHIND PORTAGE GELSOSOMOS IN 1989 THERE PIZZA HAS BEEN GREAT UNTIL PAST FEW YEARS EITHER UNDERCOOKED OR BURNT I WANNA ORDER TODAY BUT THEY JUST DONT MAKE GOOD PIZZA ANYMORE TO MANY HIGH SCHOOL KIDS WHO DONT CARE ABOUT QUALITY AND IMPORTANCE OF GOOD PRODUCT THEY NEED TO HIRE BETTER STAFF OLDER STAFF
