Great meal, last minute reservation on a summer Monday. Got a booth facing the water on the second floor, was fabulous. Oysters were fresh, they came with horseradish and a cranberry flavoured sauce. The baked oysters were also delicious, quite spicy which we loved. Also ordered was cod tacos with lemon aioli and avocado, pan fried cod with warm potato salad and carrot and brussel sprouts, and spinach salad. All were excellent. Finally finished with banana bread pudding and caramel sauce - absolutely stunning. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely go back! Wheelchair accessibility: Has an elevator for access to the 2nd floor.
Food was delish! We had nachos and fishcakes for apps. Fishcakes were some of the best we’ve ever had. The nachos come with a cheese dip and house made salsa….chef’s kiss. Seafood chowder was a very hearty entree, as was the Cajun chicken and chorizo penne. Staff went over and above and the view is absolutely the icing on the cake. We’ll be back for sure.
We went there for dinner on a Friday evening, made reservations would suggest, and we loved it. Atmosphere is quite nice and they had live music which was a little more unique for a restaurant. We immediately ordered drinks, she had a tropical popsicle and I had a Tom Collins. Her drink was perfect, combination of fruit juices paired with coconut rum and creme de banane. My Tom Collins was not great, tasted like the measurements were off, more sour and barely and sweet. We ordered appetizers next which consisted of the fried cauliflower with the spicy soy sauce, crispy calamari with lime aioli, and the bacon and jalepeno dip. Cauliflower was amazing, will probably be ordering this every time we visit and the carrot garnish on top went so good with the sauce. Bacon and jalapeño dip was delicious and served with a few pieces of toasted baguette, our only complaint is that we spared the dip yoo much and ran out of bread before running out of dip lol. The calamari had an issue, they came undercooked and had no firmness and the batter was falling off. The aioli was decent but we had to send back the plate, the manager wanted to know if we wanted another plate or not, we declined and they were nice enough to remove it from the bill. Sometimes these things happen and I usually don't complain unless it's multiple items we try with issues. I wasn't driving tonight so I decided to try their strawberry rhubarb Paloma. It was ok, I thought they had rimmed the glass in sugar but it was salt. The drink tasted ok but it was a little stronger and the strawberry and rhubarb preserves felt like an after thought, I barely knew it was there. Next came our mains, she ordered the chicken and chorizo penne pasta while I ordered the beef melt with Gahan seasoned fries and a Honey Wheat ale Her pasta was amazing, the cream sauce was light but rich in flavor and they do offer a similar option for gluten free that includes rice instead of the pasta. My Honey Wheat ale was really good and I don't usually go for beer too often. The beef melt was spectacular, very tender meat, flavorful and paired with onions, mushrooms and red peppers and their fries were good as is without any toppings. Overall, we were quite pleased with our visit and we look forward to returning. I would definitely suggest visiting Gahan, I included their menu and they have some unique offerings, don't miss out.
Dinner on our first night in St John's. Enjoyed our 2 beer flights really liked the raspberry and pineapple and my husband the beach chair. Had the beef melt, beet salad and sweet potato fries. The bartender Patrick knows his stuff.
Great atmosphere and view of the harbor. Sara was our server and super friendly and great to interact with. We had 40 oysters a salad and some drinks. Great varieties of beer to choose from and nice fresh oysters. I would definitely go back here for oysters and drinks.Food: 4/5
Dropped in for a few drinks and appetizers, the atmosphere was good. Food and drinks were okay. We ordered the charcuterie board which was a little underwhelming for the price. There wasn't a whole lot on it and not really worth sharing with more than 2 people. We had calamari as well, something we tend to order at any restaurant we visit. The calamari here was pretty run of the mill, good, but not any better than anywhere else. We also tried a few different beers, for myself I don't remember any of them standing out, but they were decent. I would like to try this place again for a meal instead of just apps.
Had dinner reso at 645 and ended up staying til almost 11pm because we were having a blast. Great beers and cocktails, food was awesome and they were happy to accommodate my switches awkward vegetarian here. We had fish and chips x2, a burrito bowl and the cauliflower tacos but dressed like chicken tacos. We also all shared Nacho's for start and shared the lemon slice for dessert. There was 4 of us and there was ample food for everyone, left stuffed to the gills. The only minor complaint is there was not enough beans in the burrito bowl, needed a bit more to beef up the protein and help it stick to your ribs. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated and the staff were great. We later ended up sitting down stairs for more drinks before leaving. Just wanted to shout out the restaurant for having great vegetarian/vegan options which me and my hubby have struggled with in St. John's especially downtown. It seems most places only offer veggie pizzas or nachos so to have something actually for us plant eaters was a nice change.
We visited the original Gahan House on PEI but didn’t know there was another location in St. John’s. We were delighted to find it. We arrived in mid-afternoon and were able to be seated immediately. We had oysters and cocktails. The food, drinks, and atmosphere were terrific. But the best part of our visit was the exceptional staff! They were attentive, helpful, and fun. It made for a perfect experience. Want to let the management know that they have created a top notch place to eat, drink, and enjoy!
Went for dinner tonight. Enjoyed flights, the seafood trio and baked oyster. Hubby had burger and fries. Food was a bit slower coming out but was worth it!
Must go if you are in the area. Oysters are amazing and everything we ordered was fantastic. And I can't forget about the brews, so good.Food: 5/5
