My family and I have been coming to Full House Chinese Cuisine for their dim sum for years. The quality of food is consistently great and staff are friendly. Food comes out quickly. One of our favourite dishes is the fried sticky rice .
Are you looking for a hot and fresh dim sum without breaking the bank? Then give this place a try. You won't be spoiled with opulence and high-end decor. This restaurant looks tired and dated. But the most important part is the food. We were looking for a new dim sum restaurant in the Scarborough area and came across this bustling plaza at Midland Ave and Finch Ave E. The parking lot is pretty full however there is parking in the rear as well. The dim sum we ordered were the following: 1. Siu Mai- steamed shrimp and pork dumpling with fish roe on top 2. Fried meat dumpling "Ham Sui Gok" 3. Fried beancurd and egg plant with fish cake 4. Plain congee with bread stick 5. Beef brisket and tendon egg noodle soup $7.99 The dim sum are ordered from a menu card, and most of the items are at a flat rate of $4.68 on weekends and $4.48 Monday to Friday. Inflation has hit the restaurant industry, so I understand the increase in prices. This place has maintained their quality to price ratio. Overall the food was tasted good and service was prompt. We will come back again to try other items on their dim sum menu.
We came here for dim sum on a weekend, it was pretty cheap compared to other dim sum restaurants in Toronto, I think our bill ended up at around 30-40cad incl taxes and tip for 5 dishes of dim sum. Unfortunately, I rated this place a 3star as I feel the dim sum quality was lacking. I have previously lived in Hong Kong for 10 years and just came to Toronto so I'm not sure if the standards are unfair to compare to local dim sum in HK, but here is my review of each dish: The Cheong fun was very soft almost mushy and not silky as it should be. The texture of this Cheong fun was interesting... Kind of reminds you of the microwave Cheong fun that comes in packets. The har gow skin is also soft, broke easily with a chopstick poke, not like a fresh har gow skin that is usually translucent and have chewy texture. And the prawn inside is a lot smaller. The pan fried dumpling filling tasted dry, not juicy like it should be. The Sui mai normally has some prawn mixed in it in HK and this one didn't so it tastes a bit different from the normal Sui Mai we eat. Also the skin is very soft as well.. didn't seem fresh. The fried squid we ate was very salty, rubbery overcooked and the quantity was a lot less. Overall, I wasn't impressed as I heard that dim sum in Toronto is actually better quality than HK, but I may need to try other places here. Also to note, the menu is a lot more limited, and we did not try their noodles and rice dishes but I saw a lot of locals order them and they may be better quality than the dim sum. I think the only thing going for this place for dim sum is that the price is reasonable for Toronto. I suspect the dim sum here are not made fresh and that's why they all taste a bit funny and sub par and taste similar to microwave dim sum from frozen packets, but if they are making it fresh then they need better dim sum chefs!
Really nice place for authentic Cantonese cuisine, the flavour and portion are 5 out of 5, while service is a bit slow, you need to wait a bit between dishes, like you are at a French restaurant. But overall, I will definitely to go back and try other dishes!
I always come here for dim sum. I think they're well priced and taste good. Note: they charge extra for tea. Service is inconsistent. Some days they're very good, other days some of the staff are not even willing to do basic tasks of their job as servers.
We wanted to try dim sum at a different restaurant and took a chance on Full House despite their mixed reviews. We weren't disappointed but also not excited by their offerings. I found their menu smaller than others in the area, so it was missing favorites such as Woo Kwokfried taro dumpling and Pheonix buns. That being said, the food was very tasty without being salty. The sui mai was loaded with shrimp and the Cheung fun had a perfect texture. The chicken feet were delicious!!
It's a nice place set up with a patio or indoor dining when we came. Friendly staff, quick service, decent prices and reliable food. Felt at ease being outdoors and able to enjoy a restaurant meal.
Pretty decent place. Not the best but it had a patio. We had the fish maw soup which was excellent. The beef tenderloin was a bit tough and the black bean bean fried rice noodle was a bit in the bland side.
Let me start by saying I've been coming to full house for dim sum for many years, like 10yrs or more. The last time before today was Dec 2021. I heard they started charging $2 per person for tea and it stated so on the menu. Fine, we won't have or order any tea. 4 of us went today including a child. When we went to pay, we were told that even though we didn't have the tea they took the cups away when we said we weren't having any they automatically charge for tea if you order from the dim sum menu. So we were charged $8 for something we didn't order or consume. Total scam. I'm really disappointed because they never used to behave this way. Maybe its because I'm not Chinese so they thought why not scam me. They wouldn't take it off the bill. Unbelievable. Just beware when you go, or plan on having tea!
Authentic cantonese dim sum. Waitresses were courteous, more friendly with their regular customers.
