Beautiful campground with amazing views and trails. Well maintained facilities and wildlife. Great from campers and tents. Nice boat launch though there is no dock. Would not suggest this lake for fishing though as all populations of fish are very low, especially walleye and what you will catch won't be very big.

Love the Franklin Lake Interpretive Trail. As a naturalist it's gorgeous and has several changes in types of landscape. I give it a 10 out of 10. It's a easy hike for kids, wide open with no scrambles. You cross over a bog on boardwalk, pass meandering sandy streams, and can head down to the lake. I've never seen more types of mushrooms on a single hike. In spring the mosquitos are horendous so I prefer to go in early fall.
