We have a place on lower Buckatabon and for the most part it is a quiet lake. The last time we were there we were trying to fish later in the day and 4 guys in a Ski Nautique staying at the Buckatabon Lodge were skiing between our boat and the shore (about 50 feet). This not only illegal but dangerous. What if someone was swimming? I did call the resort and asked them if they had someone staying at their resort that fit the description I gave them. the person I spoke with said yes so I informed him of what these boaters were doing and he said he would speak to them. Unfortunately this happened again two nights later. If the resort wants people that live on the lake to promote their resort they should be more aware of what the people staying there are doing right in front of their place! The next time this will happen I will call the Sheriff or the DNR.

Tented here for a couple days and enjoyed our stay. The Buckatabon LL has a great location, the Buckatabon lake is beautiful and it's a short drive to NHAL hiking/biking/paddling/fishing also Upper MI attractions, including the Porkies. The staff and facilities make it a wonderful place to come back to after a day of adventure. The bathrooms/showers were always clean and the bar has many basic amenities and is a welcome place to hang out during poor weather. The only down side is the grounds are packed with permanent sites (some really nice, some really not), leaving the camping sites all stacked together in the middle field area. For tenting their is very little privacy and it can be noisy depending on which permanent residence are there at the time. Overall a good place to stay if you want modern amenities but plan on spending most of your time enjoying areas outside of the campgrounds.
