This cemetery is very clean and well taken care of. I know a couple of people that are buried here, and every time I come here you can tell that they work hard at keeping this place looking nice and clean. The grounds are taken care of very well, and you can always read the stones without any problem as well.
Several of my family are buried at Ft Snelling, it is a somber place for me to walk the grounds of their final resting place. Ft Snelling is well cared for! It is an honor to walk the grounds there and when you realize the sacrifice that was made for God and country one must conclude these grounds hold the stories of people like us who loved and dreamed. And for some though the commitment was for a time they gave all, for all!
It is 5/27/2018: I visited the cemetery today for Memorial Day. It is a beautiful sight to see the white stones with flags by them. The grounds are meticulously maintained. As I was taking pictures a visitor placed the red rose on the memorial for the Sky Soldiers that served in Viet Nam. Why she did this is unknown and she did not know I was watching. Obviously the monument had meaning to her. If you read the copy and look at the flower it is a great way to remember those who served.
So much to explore. The wildlife is stunning. Plenty of bathrooms. Plenty of parking.
My husband a veteran was laid to rest here. The burial honor guard service was absolutely done beautiful. My experience with the staff of Fort Snelling was superior in helping me get everything arranged and together for his burial . All accomplished from out of state. Thank you
If you're a Veteran as I am, US Navy, 1964 to 1970, Fort Snelling Cemetery is breathtaking and grounding. Buried my Brother-in-law, US Army, and Sister.
Many of my family members buried here. Grounds and trees are immaculate. I go and sit at my grandparent’s grave and it’s always peaceful. You may leave flowers if you follow directions and use their provided containers that stick in the ground on the side of the grave stone so they can still cut grass around them. Read posted instructions located where the bins of containers are.
A great cemetery to visit and honor our fallen Vets and their family members/friends from Minnesota! I've only been here once. Though, I find it kinda disrespectful that an airport, major highways, lightrail and other city like stuff were built around it. I most likely will be back soon for a visit again someday.
Humbling. My father is buried here. On my trip to Minnesota, I was able to visit his grave for the first time. I was treated with respect and honor by the staff, even though I am not active military. It was very humbling seeing just how many graves there were and it gave me a new respect for our men and women in the service. I am proud to have my father buried there.
My father was buried there 25 years ago. I think the place is beautiful and well kept. When he passed his stone was placed with dark lettering - though it has since worn off, you can still read his. My mother joined him last October. I was told they no longer do the lettering - this is a major disappointment - you can barely read my mother's name - and you definitely cannot read what is below her name - beloved wife, mother and grandma! They need to do the dark lettering!
