Formative Fitness: Personal Training Studio provides our clients with the most updated, diverse, experienced, and nationally certified trainers in a comfortable studio setting that is located in downtown Traverse City.

Story

Our Goal is to allow you to reach your health and fitness goals in a healthy, enjoyable, sustainable, and lifestyle-oriented way, without needing to go to the gym!

Formative Fitness: Personal Training Studio isn’t a workout, nor is it a gym. We are an individually customized mixture of movement, proper nutrition, motivation, structure, accountability and enjoyment that allows our clients to reach their proprietary health goals, and sustain them for the rest of their lives.

Game changer!!! Brenden and Formative Fitness have changed the way I approach fitness. I actually look forward to working out. They work with you one-on-one to tailor a workout routine specific to your needs and make sure to mix it up constantly to keep it entertaining. I went from one 30 minute session a week to two 45 minute sessions per week and I could not be happier with the results. Take the first free class they offer and get hooked like me!
Formative is a great environment! Every trainer I worked with not only made me more fit, but they helped me be a happier person. I highly recommend Formative Fitness to anyone looking to live a healthier lifestyle.
I was the kind of person who did the gym membership thing and it always fizzled out quickly because a. I had no clue what to do on any of the machines and b. felt pretty intimidated by all the people who did seem to know what the hell they were doing. Finally, after years of not working out, a client of mine referred me to Formative Fitness. I was incredibly suspicious. But I began to train with Brenden, fully expecting it to be a wholly miserable experience of pain and soreness and more pain. But it turns out having a well rounded strength training routine can actually make your life better in many different ways, such as: -cut down on the aches and pains. stronger core = less back pain -lifting things at costco is much easier. -give me the jar, i'll open it. -mental health. winters are rough. workouts help. -I have a physical job. I have more power and stamina and am less tired at the end of the day. The list could go on but I'll stop there. Needless to say, I quickly became a convert. I love going to my workouts. One on one training is perfect for me, because I know someone is literally waiting for me to get there so I HAVE to show up. And that person is Brenden. Brenden pushes me just enough to make those sick gains, but when I screw up my knee biking, or hurt myself in some other exciting fashion, he has no problem adjusting the workouts accordingly. Thanks, Brenden. You're the best. Also he has excellent taste in 90s hits. I have seen people from all walks of life train there, there is zero elitism, and the rest of the staff are very friendly. Highly recommend!
Chey is an amazing trainer. You never feel like you are being judge and it's never being over run by people. It's a great environment.
