The service here is very good, the team was very accommodating. I was very excited to try their wood fire oven pizza and fresh pastas. The pizza was ok depends what you're comparing it to, its above average for the typical fast food pizza but its not what I expect from a good Italian restaurant. The pizza was very oily and greasy so its best shared. The portions are very generous, which is great. The pasta dishes we ordered were well made and had that nice texture you expect from fresh pasta. I would recommend the pastas over the pizza dishes. We went on a week night Tues at 530pm and the place was busy and had a lot of reservations. Thankfully we were able to grab a seat because we were a party of 2 but if you're coming here, I'd highly recommend reservations, even for dining during the non-peak times.
I came in after 9pm and the staff was very nice to ask if the kitchen could cook for me. The waitress recommended ravioli as I only wanted to have a small portion dinner. The food is an average and not hot enough. Actually, the ravioli is only mildly warm. The cream source is a bit sticky than expected. After coming back from washroom, I found that they have cleaned up my table! Although I have finished the ravioli, I have half glass of wine on the table. Then, a waitress came and brought back my wine and said didn't realize I was not yet gone! Maybe they are rush to close. I may have to come earlier next time if I want to try again.
Came here for date night with the boyfriend and we both had an amazing time. We shared the Escargot, Fried Calamari, and Beet and Kale salad special for our first course. Everything was delicious. The salad was dressed a tad heavily, but flavours were very nice. The escargot was cheesy and delicious, and the calamari was seasoned wonderfully - perfect with lemon! For our second course, we shared the Rack of Lamb special. Oh my gosh, it was so good. The lamb was so delicious - I don’t know who was cooking the food but the seasoning was ON POINT. The ravioli was also brilliantly done. Brava! Come check out Folco’s. Ask your server about the specials! They knock it out it out of the park here! Speaking of servers, thank you Stefano for your wonderful service. We had a wonderful time. Will be back soon.
Not your regular Markham Italian Restaurant. I’ve dined downtown at the best Italian restaurants and this place is definitely on par. From arrival to departure, the staff are passionate and warm. Stefan, our waiter is very outgoing, Julia is an amazing social butterfly, Angie is a sweet heart, and Diana is the most down to earth head chef I’ve met! I ordered the grilled calamari to start with and was amazed! And followed by the Ravioli de Madalena and have never enjoyed pasta like that. Let’s just say the plate don’t have to be washed other than sanitized. My wife had the Fungi Salad and I sneaked a little and loved it too!
Borderline 2 star, highest 3 star. Everyone’s preferences are obviously different, but I found that the combination of a lot of what they had did not complement each other well ex: ham with escargot, the ham overpowers the escargot; bacon with truffle, bacon overpowers truffle. But also the carbonara and ravioli pastas were just sitting in very watery sauce. Cute place and service was fine! They were pretty busy though.
I was extremely excited to try this restaurant based on people's reviews. Our experience was not good. The food did not arrive at once. For a party of 6, half the meal was served while the other half was delayed. By the time it came the rest of us was done eating. Ok, about the meal itself now. The pasta was sticking together like it was stale. The creamy sauce it was in was at the bottom of the plate and not mixed in properly. I thought this experience would have been authentic but I could have done better on my own at home with a bottle of Alfredo sauce from Walmart. The interior dinning area was like a fast food joint. Only positive was the waitress was nice though. But unfortunately I would not recommend this restaurant.
First time here and this place is amazing! The staff are friendly and informative many of the words on the menu are unknown to us. They have a good selection of items on the touchless menu. It’s located in an old home built in 1890. The parking is on a gravel area in the back of the restaurant or there’s parking on the street. The complementary bread is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Pre-sliced with butter, oil and vinegar provided. Just perfect. We ordered: RAVIOLI DI MADALENA $27 “slow roasted 8 hour veal roast, butter, sage, parmigiana this dish is very near and dear to our hearts. it was taught to us a by a wonderful woman by the name of madalena in piemonte, italy. she housed many of the chefs going to the local chef school in her home town of asti; one of them was mario folco.” Absolutely delicious with a good amount of veal stuffed in each mini ravioli. Meat was tender and juicy. WILD MUSHROOM RAVIOLI $26 “house made ravioli, forest mushrooms, white truffle, parmigiana, crisped prosciutto, in a parmigiana cream sauce”. Never had mushroom ravioli before and this dish sets the bar. The ravioli is thin and flat so you don’t feel like all your eating is dough. Each ravioli has a good chunk of mushroom, the cream sauce paired with the crispy prosciutto complements the each other and elevates the dish as a whole. One of THE best ravioli dishes I’ve ever had. FETTUCCINE CARBONARA $28 “house made fettuccine, smoked speck prosciutto, farm fresh egg, spinach, parmigiana cream sauce” Feedback from my son “Yummy, yummy, yum. Hee hee, delicious. Tummy feel good.” Daily special Frie Roasted Pesto Salmon
With Amalfi lemon Spaghetti $36 “Awesome flavours. Can really taste the lemony pesto without it being over powering. Pasion Fruit Bomba $12 Did not know what a bomba is so decided to give it a try. Such an incredible dessert. An explosion of passion fruit goodness. Would highly recommended trying this dessert. Thank you for such a lovely family dinner. We will definitely be back.
interesting pizza flavours, though one of the pasta and fried salmon is a bit lemony. Good place, a hit on the pricier side, but that’s expected for this kind of dine in. Portions are a good size and has a nice atmosphere.
Love this place! The staff we're very friendly, the food was fantastic. The patio was loud but nice. Started the meal with probably the best Calamari Fritte I've had. Battered lightly, complimented by yellow and red pickled peppers with a balsamic reduction. So tasty! My wife said the spaghetti bolognese was very good. I am happy to report that the melanzane parmigiana was superb. And the recommended wine, Popoli Aglianico, was full bodied and flavourful, with a noticeable notes of berries. Unfortunately you can't buy it at the LCBO. I'll be back.
We enjoyed the food especially the carpaccio. The tables are a bit too close together and the lighting was too dim. Our server was polite and attentive.
