My doctor Dr. Laakso is FANTASTIC. I have been chronically ill for 3 years now. Finally, because of her I was able to figure out the last piece of the puzzle to my mystery symptoms. No matter what has been going on, I have ALWAYS been able to rely on her. She is what ever doctor should aspire to be. Unfortunately, this past week I had a horrible interaction with the office reception that has left me questioning if getting care is worth the effort. And I know I NEED care. I waited a month for my appointment. When I arrived, the receptionist took my health card, then ask me a second time if I had an appointment. They were unable to find my appointment, even though I scheduled it on the phone, double checked the date and time, and clarified I needed to bring my diagnostic paperwork, not submit it beforehand. The receptionist told me my appointment was scheduled for January 2022, instead of 2023, by mistake. When I asked what this meant for me, they said I was to come back in a month for a new appointment. I told them I had waited a month for my appointment already and live a distance away. They simply repeated the new schedule date. When I pressed further, they repeatedly told me if, “SHE wants to see you, she’ll call.” With someone waiting behind me, they then loudly expressed, “This appointment is to talk about your insert mental health diagnosis, yes?” — “Yes.” — “Yeah, if she wants to see you, she’ll call.” They already knew what the appointment was for from the appointment notes, and I had provided them with my diagnostic report, it was completely unnecessary and demoralizing the way they used my diagnosis. It felt diminishing and like my need for help wasn’t “real”. No effort, AT ALL, was made to tell the doctor that an error was made and a regular patient was here for her in the waiting room. In anticipation for this appointment, I RESTRUCTURED my life. Knowing I would likely need to try multiple medications and acclimate to them, I took a month long leave from work. I am also starting university again this week. I planned my appointment around this, giving me time to get used to medications before exams. I had also been in the middle of a double flare-up from a separate dual diagnosis. I drove 35 minutes each way in agony. This error changed my life literally. And for all this careful planning and decision making, I wasn’t even apologized to. The emotional pain and financial loss has left me wondering where to get care. I’m confident your doctors will be great. I’ve only had EXCELLENT experience until now. I know I had a rare experience. But if you’re physically, chronically ill, and have a mental health challenge, an experience like this is hard to hard to overcome.
After 14 years and our family using first Medical - we were randomly selected and dropped as patients. Not quite sure if randomly selecting patients that have been in your care for over a decade is the way to go ... but we always appreciated Dr. Reinders and his care...the new Drs. Not so much. Brutal.
I had the privilege of having Dr Reinders for my family doctor for 27 yrs...he was the kindest..smartest & most dedicated dr I've ever had. He chose Dr Laaska to replace him at his practise and I am thrilled to feel very confident & comfortable with her...very intelligent & dedicated as well. The office staff is amazing...very knowledgeable & professional as well as being down to earth & funny..love those ladies!!
I absolutely adore Dr. Laakso. She is kind, patient, listen, extremely professional, intelligent and truly helps her patients! She has helped me immensely.
Been my Drs place for sometime. Very professional.
Dr. Tillman is the best ever. His staff is also awesome. Thanks for the care of my family.
