If I could give this zero stars for absolute zero satisfaction, that is what my accurate rating would be. Instead of improving over the years, they have become stupefyingly, mind boggingly, inexcusably shoddy, abominable, and overall worse. Do not waste your time, money, or expectations on this institution.
Recently switched over to a credit union from a big bank for the more 'personalized service'. Deposited a large bank draft with the teller, from myself to myself from another bank. Was advised it will be a 7 day hold. As I work in finance, I asked if they could call and verify the funds as I didn't want a hold and a draft is technically cash. The teller, and manager working appeared so put out, and like I was such an hassle. Said they would next day, and I asked if they could email me when this was complete. Well that was 2 days ago, haven't heard anything and my funds are still on hold. Once this cheque clears I will go in, withdraw it and switch back to my old bank. Verifying funds is not a big deal I do this almost daily in my job, and for the employees to seem like I'm such an inconvenience, when there was no one in the bank anyways....brutal
connectFIRST is headed in all the wrong directions: I was given 30 minutes to rectify 9 charges of less than $2 each that caused my account to go into overdraft. Each of those 9 charges was then slapped with its own $45 return AND It's own $5 processing fee. That's $450 in punishment charges. At the time of this notification call, I was in a work meeting. Please note I had been having issues AGAIN accessing my account after their latest update, so I was unaware of the $20 overdraft and UNABLE to transfer the funds to cover it. I have banked here for over 30 years. Sadly, petty people now run this institution Please AVOID AVOID AVOID. Their focus has definitely shifted away from customer service. ----- Absolutely the rudest & MOST incompetent Financial Advisor. W. Gaves was rude, yelling and accusatory today after we have patiently waited TEN months for him to fix our investment account. We had attempted to resolve this issue several times since Sept 2018. For example, no preparation or paperwork was ready for resolution today. Example #2, when we pointed out that any human being could have printed the appropriate forms off the website as we had done he became irate and responded "Are you saying I'm not a human being?" What a ridiculous statement for a grown man to make. He stated he couldn't "Babysit all of his many client accounts." We were shocked. When the issue escalated to include Management at the Branch he began ranting. He claimed to have spent a full month of work setting up our account, However he had nothing to show for it, ie, emails, paperwork, forms. Please be careful to avoid this individual and be careful if your senior parents are at his mercy.
Don't recommend banking or investing with this FI or this location either. Not very responsive to customer needs - regardless of how long you have been a customer!! Poor service standards, high banking fees and terrible term deposit rates - even the Big six banks do better which is shame - you would think that Credit Unions niche is better service, better banking fees and better term deposit rates. If connectFirst was a publicly traded company - I'D SELL OR SHORT IT!
I made an appointment to open a business account and was sent countless reminders of the appointment but when showed up on time for my appointment, I was made to wait. I just left as the representative was on the phone and seemed to be taking his good ol' time, despite our appointment. I know he was probably advising someone but our time is important too. We expect professionalism, no less and punctuality, since these are very important requirements, otherwise there is no seriousness and as such it is a disservice to society. We had been told that there are no fees for business accounts here but no such information was found on the website. Due to lack of professionalism, we will be taking our capital elsewhere. Zero stars.
Came asking to exchange $20 bill for coins. At first I was a bit reluctant to go in as it was just after 12:30 on a Friday thinking it would be busy during the lunch hour. To my surprise however there was not a single person in there and there were 3 tellers just standing and Im only guessing ...not doing much. When one of them greeted me I proceeded to ask for the exchange at which point she asked me if I am a member to which I replied I am not. Then with a kind smiling face and what I can only assume slightly ashamed she told they don't do it for non-members. While I can understand for example that a non-member couldn't come in seeking financial advice I fail to see what this business accomplished by denying to exchange the cash. Not only was there no one in there it probably would have tied her up for 30 seconds. Definitly has not won any future business from me. I have to add that soon after I went to a financial institution I am a member of , they never asked me if I was a member and did it all with a great service. First Calgary is a fail!
The absolute worst experience I have ever had with a bank. Not only do they not communicate with eachother and their connect first union they make no effort to re write their wrong doings. After being ill informed of a overdraft amount owing on my account, they sent the notices to a house I sold with them over two years ago, I made arrangements to pay the balance in two installments as they had to be in cash only. On the first of December I saw my credit took a forty point hit because of a late payment which I didn't understand as I made arrangements to pay the remainder on December 3rd. I went there today to discuss the matter and they said they had no records of my conversation with the connect first union. They stated they only had one recorded phonecall back on November 13th and nothing of the four other calls I had with that department. As well there is nothing they could do regarding the matter and the lack of communication they had between their departments and all I couls do pay off the amount owing and build back my credit on my own. DO NOT GO WITH FIRST CALGARY! I'll be filing a report with the BBB.
Sorry, but zero stars not available to select. This branch is horrible. No drive thru. The interior is barren and desolate, it makes you want to run out. The staff are mostly downtrodden and not friendly at all. I had a request and all I got was "this is our policy" so I gave up. I don't really know how this branch remains open and competitive in this market. I have accounts at TD and BMO and especially TD offers much better service AND hours of operation. This branch can be closed up to 3 days if there is a statutory holiday. You can do better elsewhere.
Having the ever so common draft freezing issue today, huge issues I was never warned of.
Freindly and helpful staff. Great for all my banking needs and no fees for chequing and savings is amazing, unlike the big banks that drain your funds with hidden charges. Highly recommend First Calgary, and this branch in particular has really great people.
