I had an auto loan through First Alliance Credit Union. I was frustrated at first because there was no way to make an online payment or set up a recurring payment. I was able to set up a bill pay through my main bank though so all was fine. It wasn't until I paid off the loan that things went bad. I had called on at least 3 separate occasions in attempt to get a lien Release on the vehicle title. All three times I was told that it was in the mail. A month later I still have not received the lien release. It turns out that they were expecting me to pick it up. All after extensive validation of my current address and specifically asking for an expedited turn around on it. I was assured it would arrive in no more then 3 business days. Still nothing.
Live chat is horrible. They ask "security" questions that have nothing to actually do with identifying who you are, but rather if you can see the account and read back information. So anyone logged into the account could easily pose as an account owner. The person on the other end is combative, rude and doesn't understand they aren't asking proper questions that can be answered without context. "Do you get a deposit into the account from anywhere" is not a proper question as it lacks context of "anywhere" which when read looks like you're being asked if you can deposit from any location and not "Do you receive any regular deposits". Again that is rather mute as you can see in account history repeating deposits and have the answer. So it is a poor "security" question. Took 24 minutes just to get a form to dispute a double charge on my debit card because "Adam" kept taking a minute to reply and not asking the questions correctly. Service keeps getting worse and worse with this credit union. From them refusing to handle change deposits directly, not having control over the quality of the state of bill dispersed on withdrawal, to now this. Going to have to start looking for another financial institution that actually cares about customer experience and understands security.
