I was supposed to learn from the stylist Simone, but he was a horrible teacher. He was late to every session and was consistently rude to me. He barely taught me anything and wouldn’t even make eye contact with me. I would give him 0 stars if I could. I highly recommend that any prospective hair stylist study with someone else, not Simone.
First I would like to say that everyone was very nice and the student cutting my hair was very friendly! However I was very disappointed in the lack of instruction and then supervision provided throughout the haircut and at one stage the student said "I'm just going to ask my supervisor to check and then I can move on to the blow dry" Still no sign of the supervisor and when the student came back she said "she said it's fine, she trusts me, that's a good sign!" I was so disappointed that the supervisor didn't have the sense to oversee the haircut! My hair was cut much shorter than I wanted but I was fine with that as I wanted a change and my hair grows fast so I can get over it! What bothered me most was that when I returned home and was fixing my parting I noticed tiny little tuffs of hair sticking out around my roots! This was clearly a result of thinning scissors the girl used on my hair, which were obviously used incorrectly! Again another instruction not given and no supervision provided during this stage either! I absolutely hate thinning scissors to begin with but I didn't want to be rude and ask her to stop which I regret now I'm so annoyed that my hair has been left like this, it literally feels like a razor was ran over the top of my head, the strands are that short! Thankfully I have really thick hair so I can cover them but the next person might not! It will take years for this to rectify itself! There's no way of fixing it, I just have to let it grow out! If going here make sure to ask for the supervisor to check after each stage of the haircut, DO NOT allow anyone near your hair with thinning scissors and whatever length you want, be sure to say longer, that way you might get the actual length you were looking for!!
Decided to just try out Fiorio since it's nearby and I'm on the hunt for a new stylist. I ended up booking with Angie, and I couldn't be happier! Angela is an amazing stylist! She really listened to what I wanted, and was so precise and professional. This is the best haircut I've had in years!
This review is long overdue but a few months ago I came in on very short notice for a trim and had a great experience! Jeff was my stylist he was extremely friendly and did exactly what I wanted. It was quick and simple. I'll definitely be returning!
I went to the academy today for the first time. Upon entering I was asked if I wanted a drink water, coffee etc and had a consultation with my hair stylist and then confirmed with the floor manager the teacher. After that my stylist was amazing. Thorough and ensured my comfort. I had just a wash/cut/blow, and for 27$ 31.80 after tax I would return. I enjoyed my time there and at the end of it all, can't really tell why I paid 25 more dollars at a salon.
I've been to Fiorio twice now and loved it both times. I love watching the students do their thing and also have learned quite a lot about hair myself. The instructors seem very knowledgeable and put the customers first. Although I haven't done anything drastically different with my hair, they take the consultation process seriously and have given me haircuts that fit with my lifestyle. Please note: since this is a school, be prepared for a longer than usual hair appointment. Mine has taken an average of 2 hours wash, cut, style as the students must consult with the instructors during each step of the process.
Absolutely horrible experience. Here’s the full story of my experience with them that had me going to another salon for them to fix: 1. I made sure to do my research, and consulted with them for a colour service specifically a balayage ombré they had assured me this has been done many times and could be done to my virgin black hair - which is easier to work with then coloured hair. 2. When I arrived, I was told it could not be done and to sign a waiver to ensure liability was not on them pretty common. 3. I was not only greeted with apparently their “students and instructors” that told me it was impossible to do, but that should I do it - they would not be the one to. So I said fine and told them to do whatever they could. Which was agreed as a normal safe brown dye. 4. NOT ONLY did they completely dye my hair orange, they told me that they didn’t use a certain toner that I had paid for that they FORGOT! Then when I got upset, they told me it was a learning school. So they told me to go to their “real & professional” salon. Which I did although I was at my wits end. 5. When I arrived for the appointment with the so called “professionals” I was told that my hair was fried and orange because I used shampoo with sulfate but not only did I not wash my hair as per their instructions but wouldn’t have made sense as the appointment was only 2 days after. 6. They told a poor girl to chop OFF the fried hair and when I had noticed I completely lost it that they would even tell someone to cut my hair without my permission to cover for the damage! I was there to get a colour correcting treatment and a deep hair mask for the damage. 7. The new “senior” colourist James I think his name was was the most unprofessional, rude and completely dismissive person of clients opinions! He did NOT acknowledge how upset I was due to everything at Fiorios and then proceeded to tell me that “he was not the one that did this so he doesn’t know what else he can do” and I just thought that was one of the most condescending and almost downright disrespectful attitudes coming from someone that’s supposedly helping someone “feel their prettiest self”. 8. I paid, in essence after all payments, around $400 on this absolutely nonsensical service and company. I am furious at the quality of service I received and the attitude of their workers! The salon is NOT well kept, I expected something a bit more accommodating after spending so much money, and they only offer water and horrible coffee. In conclusion, if I could take them to court I would however it is NOT worth your time. Do yourself a favour and go to any other salon in Toronto! I was thankful enough to know someone at Sparks Salon on King st that actually did wonders to my damaged hair and for a very respectable price! In this day and age, hair can mean a lot and for a company that stands by making someone feel beautiful made me feel absolutely mortified with their experience. I will NOT be recommending anyone from my firm, friends, loved ones to FIORIOS. Absolute waste of money and time!
I used to like coming here, but I was upset after my past two experiences. I always book bleach and toner. Every time I go, the colourist is running in such a tight schedule she hardly has time to check in on my hair once it's been processed. Toning is such a delicate process. I sometimes need to do it more than once to get the super ashy colour I want and I'm very specific about it going in. I have yet to see the ashy colour I wanted, but honestly what's worse about it is the rushed and stressed out staff being unable to fully complete any during jobs. I went to First Choice to fix up the colour I had after my last experience, and they gave me exactly what I wanted :/ not a good sign for Fiorio.
