This is the best breakfast place I’ve been to in Ontario. The owners will treat you like family and they are fun to talk with. Everything here is absolutely amazing. The ambience is cozy and the food is simple yet delicious. Don’t forget to try their coffee as it is freshly brewed. The lady their offered us some toffees while we were leaving which was a really nice gesture. I’ll definitely visit them again whenever I get the chance. I highly recommend this place
Very unique dinner, that's what attracted us. Loved the busy interior with great memorabilia. The service was impeccable, must have been one of the owners. She was so sweet and kind. I felt like I was walking right into her kitchen at home. The food was fresh and tasty. The omelet was one of a kind for me. I got the deluxe and the chucks or protein and vegetables were large, I liked it alot. I hate when there isn't enough in an omelet. Must check out if not for the decor, then for the service and food.
I've been to Fil's a few times for breakfast. Each of those visits have been an absolute pleasure. The place may not look like much from the outside but don't let that fool you. The moment you walk in the front door, you will be pleasantly surprised by the plethora of decor that surrounds the walls. They have been open for almost 40 years and in that time, they have collected nicknacks and memorabilia which they have hung up their walls and ceiling. The place is run by an older couple and their son. They are all really friendly and make you feel welcome. Their food is great, at least the dishes we've had. I recommend the Big Bear's breakfast! By the way, ask them about their home made hot sauce! It's delicious! Vegetarian options: Sandwich, omelette, salads, etc. Kid-friendliness: The owner's and their son are extremely friendly and humble. Their menu offers a number of items catered to children such as chicken fingers, chocolate chip pancakes, etc. Parking: Fil's is located in a plaza directly across from 20 or so parking spots.
My husband and I visited over the weekend. It was our first time visiting. Totally worth it. The breakfast/brunch just felt so homely and lovely. The customer service by the owner’s family is remarkable. The quantity of every plate ordered was a lot. Hot sauce recommendation - The hot sauce offered by them is not very spicy but very flavourful for brunch. A lot of unique flavours. The owner was kind and offered my husband some extra hot sauce to take away. Highly recommend!!!
My go to little diner heading to Toronto. Older place , very cozy and a proud wall to wall display of years of the family's collections and portraits. It is not your ordinary cafe. The food is amazing and all home cooked. Love the friendliness and has nice ambiance. Highly recommend it.
Popped in for a quick lunch, and I am super glad I did! The owners are amazing people and a few times had half the diners laughing. The Greek food was on pointI had the souvlaki on a bun, and his homemade hot sauce is soooooo good!! Definitely will be dining here next time I'm in Barrie!!!Food: 5/5
The ambiance is interesting. It loud, overflowing, kind of tacky, and definitely dated. It feels like a late 70’s early 80's dinner. The irony is on LCD TV they the Match Game on to really date the place. Still, they have free Bell 5G wifi. As for the owner he definitely charming and politically incorrect. The food is reasonably priced and well cooked. Really can’t go wrong with a hamburger and French fries with gravy and a Coke. Update: Stop for breakfast, sausage and eggs was excellent but at the cash register there's a pictureand the word Trudeau underneath. Please leave your politics from your business.
My family has been coming here for a long time always great food and love the hot sauce Food: 5/5
I simply don't remember when Fil's wasn't there. You don't keep a restaurant in Barrie open that long by luck. The recipe is simple: The food is great, the owners are wonderful and kind and the atmosphere is welcoming.
One of the best spots for home cooked meals. Food is fantastic and the owners make you feel like family. Highly recommendFood: 5/5
