The food was great and the staff was wonderful. Its a cozy Cafe with a very pretty courtyard. I had the Golden Milk, London Fog and Chickpea Salad Sammy. There wasn't a long wait for the food even when more customers started coming in and both the servers were very friendly. I will definitely visit again! Vegetarian options: There were quite a few vegetarian and vegan friendly options. Parking: Pais street parking in front of the building but on a busy route. I suggest parking a little farther just for ease of getting out.
The lazy tulip is a great place to go eat. All the food was delicious and at a pretty good price. We got the Buddha bowls, Mediterranean sandwich, scrambled tofu, some tulip hash, and golden milk latte. The lattes were so tasty too, we decided later to get them and glad we did. Portions were good, as most things came with a side of salad or some focaccia. I'd recommend this to anyone in the area!
The McLaren Art Centre is beautiful, great event space. I was at the centre for a market this weekend and wanted to fill up my water bottle but noticed there wasn't any place to do so, no water fountain or station to fill up. So I went to the bathroom, tap was hot water. I decided to ask the front desk, the people working there told me to maybe try the cafe "the lazy tulip." Which is in the centre I have heard such great reviews about this place, the food etc. I ventured over, looked at the food board, thought I might order something to eat later. While I still wanted to fill up my water bottle, I waited patiently, as it seemed it was busy and everyone was zooming around trying to care for the customers. I ended up leaving after 15 minutes no one said a word to me, not a hello, or even I'll be with you …etc. I went back after again looking for cold water again - finally a women asked me "can I help you?" So I proceeded to explain "I am looking for some cold water" she looked at me frustrated and advised “I should check the bathroom”... so I politely explain that the water is hot and if they had tap water that was cold, if I could have some.. The women looked at me as if I was such a burden for asking and replied " ugh yes," grabbed my water bottle and put it in the sink, turned the tap on and walked away. I felt so embarrassed even asking for water... I had asked someone who worked there if she was the owner and they replied "yes." I have never been so mistreated at an establishment as I have today. I don't normally write bad reviews and this place seems to have many lovely reviews - working in customer service I would have never thought I'd be treated this way for asking for some "cold" water.. especially from the owner.. not impressed **Update - I asked for tap water…..didn’t realize that was such an expense to the owner .. if you are mad about me not making a purchase with the “free” tap water, I probably would have if you didn’t have such an unpleasant attitude. I’ve worked in restaurants / hospitality, you lack a lot of customer service skills if that’s how you act when in high pressure / stressful situations.
I had a dynamite lunch with friends at the MacLaren yesterday. Every seat was full. The food was exceptional, the homemade artisanal bread and soup was clearly made with quality ingredients and great care. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better cafe or lunch experience in the entire city. Outstanding!
It was our first time at the Cafe recently and while the menu and atmosphere is not very kid friendly, my kids really enjoyed it!! Delightful. We will return, most definitely. Vegetarian options: We were pleased to see some great vegetarian and kosher options on the menu!! Parking: Mulcaster wasn't too crowded the day we went
First time in, pleasantly suprised by a really cute place to have a cup of tea and a nice fresh lunch. Will definitely be by again!
I absolutely loved the spinach cheddar muffins they sold at their original location on Maple Avenue. I would often pop in and buy several to take home. The last two times I have purchased them at their new location on Mulcaster Street, they have been half the size but are still the same price of $3 each. I recently purchased a half dozen and they were a really weird shape. They were very dry and had next to no cheese in them. I don’t think I’ll be buying them again.
Nice cafe and breakfast place in downtown Barrie. On the more Zen and veggie end compared to your typical American diner. Ambience is Buddhism symbols and light music. Food was pretty good and everything came with salad. Our server was Michael who was attentive, fun, and gave good service.
Great place for lunch. Food was amazing and healthy. Service was great! This new location by the art gallery is really cute and nice inside. Great vibe and great music.
Ordered take out today. 3 salads and 1 coffee. It came as $50. Price is not the problem if the quality of the food is decent. Coffee is sour so we ended up having to drive to Tim’s 2 minutes away to get another coffee. The salad is very tasteless. My son seems to enjoy the bacon in his keto salad but chicken in it is not good. Will not come back.
