Story

Historic Fern Hall, located on 117 acres in Northeastern Pennsylvania, is home to our Bed & Breakfast and Golf Course. The main residence and the boat house sit on the serene shores of Crystal Lake. The land was deeded to Samuel Meredith, the 1st Treasurer of the United States, by Benjamin Franklin. The house was built as a country estate in 1916 by the Johnson & Johnson Family, of pharmaceutical fame. Surround yourself with the family warmth and hospitality of Fern Hall that has been enjoyed by generations.


Stay in one of our 9 Beautiful Guest Rooms and enjoy peace and tranquility in our elegant country setting. Ski & Stay, Romance, Golf and Mid-Week Special Packages are available. Social and corporate groups are always welcome. Breakfast included with your stay, unlimited greens fees on the golf course, and massages available (by appointment) are just a few of our unbeatable amenities.

I cannot express how excited I was to see the outside of this Inn, the grounds are beautiful and the outside of the building is gorgeous. Now for the reality check, the inside COULD be beautiful but it's not, it's dirty and messy. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls, the bathroom tiles have paint from the walls on them and the tiny "commercial" kitchen is filthy. This could be amazing, but it really needs work and to think they should charge what they want to to hold a wedding there is unrealistic.

Played 9 holes walking $12 on a weekend. Course in great shape. Greens were fast but smooth.

Beautiful bed and breakfast with character. Lake and mountain views with amazing golf. Came here for fall colors and will come again.

If you're visiting the area for an extended stay or just stopping by for the night, then Fern Hall Inn is a wonderful place to visit for several reasons. The rooms are large and accommodating, the rich history of the grounds feels like you went back in time and you will not leave hungry because of the phenomenal food. The rooms are a perfect place for couples to stay over night. There are large beds and ample space to plop down luggage and hang up clothes. During the winter the bedrooms are nice and toasty. If you really like it hot, you can use a personal space heater to make the room extra comfortable. This destination is seeped in history. Every turn you take, in the inn or on the property, you will find the stamp of the Johnson and Johnson family as well as the second Treasurer of the United States. With sweeping views and well manicured grounds, it's an opportunity to enjoy the location. Every morning guests can choose from a variety of different breakfast options. You can have a slice of home made banana bread, or snack on fresh fruit, or feast on a large omelet, or eat as many blueberry pancakes. All and all, the made to order breakfasts are a good reason to wake up in the morning. Fern Hall Inn made my vacation. It is a wonderful place and offers plenty of options to guests. I only played golf and did not enter the dining room. The course is an enjoyable layout of 9 holes. Green fee with cart was only $20, so affordable and money well spent.
