Essex Motel

Filthy. Let me count the ways. Stained and dirty carpet. dirt and hair in the corners and along the baseboard in the bathroom. Dirt behind the bathroom faucet. Dirt on the front of the counter that holds the micro and frig. Coffee maker not cleaned. Filth in corners on shelf where air conditioner sits in the window. All these filthy corners had dirt that had built up for some time. I had to use a wash cloth to wipe off the nightstand--the shelves underneath it were also very dusty--cleaned those. Took photos of the filth and showed those and the dirty wash cloth to the front desk clerk. I said I do not expect much for the price I paid to stay but I expect clean. He looked at the wash cloth and said it must have been left in the room. I said, no, what you see there is just what I cleaned up. I told him about the stains on the throw rug in front of the bed. He said not possible since he just laid it down that day. I showed him the photo of the rug and he dismissed it and said not possible. He refused to discuss any of it further. Guess no one told him that the customer is always right. Only "good: thing--the sheets were clean. Go down the street and pay more.

Never stayed there...but heard good things about it.dog friendly .local affordable motel. Lots of rooms. By the day...week...monthly.

We are a lovely time in Alturas and the hotel was perfect. It was clean and quiet with well kept grounds. The ladies at the front desk were polite, helpful and pleasure to meet. Great people in Alturas!
