This restaurant is located in Salt City Market. Erma's is delectable and the chef/ owner is the nicest person ever!! We tried the Jerk Salmon, which is a must if this is your first time trying out Jamaican food warning: jerk flavor definitely has a kick to it so be prepared!. Also, tried Braised oxtail in butter beans, which has more of a tangy flavor. Excited to taste the Curry chicken roti next time!
So first time trying this place. Love the almost artist gallery vibe. 1st time to try curried chicken patty. Wow my taste buds were over the moon happy, curry chicken with white rice amazing and Oxtail cooked perfectly. Rice and peace so delightful you could eat it by itself. I've been missing home since August last year and man this visit made up for it Hats off to the chef. Well done Parking: I didn't have to drive all over the place to find parking. Always a plus for me
Staying at the Marriott across from Salt City Market, I asked the valet for a food recommendations that was close. I was recommended Erma’s Island and this restaurant did not disappoint! The food was very delicious - I was so eager to try everything that I ordered the curry goat, oxtails, and jerk chicken. They all were finger-licking. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting good quality food in Syracuse. Not to mention the staff was extremely nice and hospitable. I plan to eat here again while I’m in town!
Was my first time here at Salt City and my first time trying the Oxtail. Big mistake, the Oxtail was mostly bones barely any meat on them, sauce was good, the rice was bland, the plantain was good. The male cashier was unfriendly acted like we were bothering him by ordering there. He then seemed confused on the orderes, I heard a lady from the back say to the other guy who was cooking what is he doing,we got people waiting on these orders. Needless to say was not a good first impression at all .
Amazing flavors and packed with spice!!! The jerk salmon meal was well worth it!!!! The slaw was flavorful and the red beans n rice!!! Made my southern little soul so happy!!!
Erma's Island is a food experience. That was so good I forgot to take a photo before digging in. The smell of the jerk chicken wafting off my plate was too tempting to resist. It was perfectly seasoned, perfectly spicy, and the rice and beans has a beautiful spice with a floral note. The fried plantain was a perfect finish to a wonderful meal.
If you have never had authentic Jerk Chicken, Erma's is an excellent place to start. The chicken was tender with lots of spicy sauce. The beans and rice were sweet with the flavor of coconut. The plantains were a bonus. This is the kind of meal I would eat everyday. Don't forget to try a Jamaican Patty as well.Food: 5/5
They have a lot of options to try out if you like Jamaican cuisine. I really enjoyed the oxtail but my favorite was the jerk burrito. It was absolutely delicious. Big enough to fill me up and the seasoning and sauces on it were perfect. I'm not a huge fan of their beverage selection but that would be the only shade I could cast in this great restaurant. I'm looking forward to trying the jerk salmon next time
Never had such good food before! All the spices and seasonings were just right, the flavor was bursting in my mouth. I had their braised oxtails and it’s worth it. I could feel Latoya’s love and passion in her food!
I had the jerk chicken burrito and I have to say it was the best thing I have ever eaten in my entire life. It was bursting with flavor and was the perfect amount of food. Not to mention the staff here are some of the nicest people I have ever met! 10/10 will be coming back
