El Bracero

The space is old and a bit run down, but the food is excellent, plentiful, & inexpensive. All the food: salsas, chips, guacamole, and even Chorizo is made in house. Excellent mole' sauce. My wife is Mexican and says it's authentic. It's my favorite Mexican restaurant.

Food came fast, however the Guacamole was 60 % cilantro. The ground meat tasted too processed not fresh and the rice had no flavor. Wish the knife cuts were better and not thrown together.

I no longer live in Poughkeepsie but I still dream about the pork nachos here.

Not many restaurants can deliver good nachos that aren't soggy or crushed, and have the large range of toppings that nachos should have. Unfortunately neither does this place. They didn't even include sour cream or salsa. I ordered both the fried bean nachos and the beef nachos and I can't tell which is which because they're both a soggy mess of gunk and slop. The chips are stale, even the soggy ones, and the soft taco shell wasn't the freshest either. The fact that I can't tell the difference between fried bean and beef by taste or texture makes me think they sent two of the same instead of what I ordered, despite the receipt that was printed on a piece of 8.5x11 letter paper saying I ordered two different kinds. They delivered my food in a timely manner, and the delivery driver was very friendly, however the quality of the food is absolute garbage and I will not be ordering from this restaurant again. The delivery containers within the plastic bag were crushed to the point that one wouldn't stay open, and the there was burnt food or something all over the top of the upper container. If you're looking for something edible I'd look elsewhere. This was a disaster.
