It’s a great place to hang out and eat ice cream. The ice cream isn’t the smoothest but it’s still good. Tried the mint chocolate one and it was decent. The salted caramel tasted mildly burnt but it’s still okay, though I’ve had better from other places. The cereal milk ice cream was the best flavour we tried here. Cone sizes are good.
Had their Vegan Maple Walnut Praline, and it was a very good scoop of ice cream! I liked how creamy it was because of the oat and coconut milk, and it did have a sweet maple undertone. Some small pieces of walnut added texture, but I wish there were more pieces incorporated throughout. At $5.60 for one scoop, it's not a cheap treat. However, I appreciated their vegan flavour selection, as they had 6 available options at the time. For those with dietary restrictions, they also list their daily menu and each flavour's ingredients on their website.nnThe shop itself has limited bar and table seating, but it's not accessible to all the entryway has a short staircase to get to the floor, where customers both order and sit. Nothing special about the service, I found it to be quite brief and to-the-point, without much friendly interaction. Line-ups are probably the normal, but it moves quickly even if there's only one staffer taking orders. Would be interested in trying more of their vegan flavours in the future!
For our first time in Vancouver, family suggested that we must go to Ernest Ice Cream before we leave. So we headed there on a late night.nnI got a Double Scoop with the cone upside down in the cup, which is how I usually get ice cream. We ordered the London Fog and the Chocolate Hazelnut Brownie. The London Fog was impeccable. I love flowery and anything Earl Grey, so this was perfect. The Chocolate Hazelnut was great too, solid flavor and loved the brownie chunks in it too. It was like a sweet little surprise. For both ice cream flavors, the consistency was perfect. It was very creamy yet very smooth, delicious, and the flavor shined in each bite. It was also the perfect amount of sweetness too.nnThe ambiance and overall aesthetic was nice; it was clean, very cute white brick touches, and also a little industrial. When we arrived, we were very lucky. Apparently having a line out the door was common. There was no line at all, and service went really smooth. I was surprised at our wait time.nnAnd even if we did have to wait in a long line, Earnest Ice Cream would be worth it. I don't know when I'll be back but when I do, I'll make it a point to come here :
There's usually a line-up, but it's worth the wait—Earnest Ice Cream is, in my opinion, one of the best ice cream shops in Vancouver. They consistently offer a variety of unique flavors, and I've never been let down. You can sample different options before deciding, and they serve single or double scoops in a cup or cone, along with ice cream sandwiches, hot fudge sundaes with your choice of ice cream, vegan fudge, and pints to take home.nnMy personal favorite is their cookies and cream, a lighter take on an Oreo-inspired treat that never disappoints.nnPro tip: Save your Earnest Ice Cream pint jars and bring them back for $1 off your next purchase.
The best chocolate ice cream I’ve ever had! It was very rich and tasted like dark chocolate without the bitter aftertaste. My friend got the pumpkin spice latte which was delicious as well, but still easily beat by the chocolate. Service was fast and they cleared the line quickly. Highly recommend!
