This place sucks. guidance department is quite bad, maybe one good counsellor. So many of us given courses we never signed up for when others who needed or signed up for those courses are stuck in others. The whole school is unorganized and big decisions are always very last minute, and compared to other schools in the area, there are way better options. Preaches about mental health while creating a schedule that completely overwhelms students. ie Grade 12 exams, arguably the most important ones, done early for no legitimate reason, with no rest day in between which other grades get. They don't care about their students. They make you pay for things that should come by default. literal $45 fee to join any club or sport. Its also never clean, one bathroom had a spill for weeks, and half of the bathrooms are closed. Has some nice teachers, but sadly not much they can do authoritatively for the rest of the stuff mentioned, not their fault.
Went in with hopes and dreams, and left with depression and suicidal thoughts and tendencies. No matter how much they say they do, Dunbarton has no regard for student mental health. D&D Club was great though.
.5 stars not even finished a full term i hate this place and it smells like wood chips and alphabet soup. dont come here.
My daughter is new at this school. The school is old but well maintained. We have been with a different board/region and think this board and school is pretty good compared to the others we have visited. The staff are wonderful and helpful. The new Guidance Counselor assigned to us has been so supportive of us and what we are going through. For people who needs academic help they seem to have a lot of resources. I think its a good school in Pickering compared with the other high schools that I have seen. I was concerned about the academic part compared to the other boards where kids score high. I think if your child works hard, they will do well here. The kids in the area seem nice and well rounded.
i want to kms i dont think ill make it this year
Run run as far away as possible don't go to this school
Bin here for a bit and I don’t really like it
I can only speak to the pool area as I take my son for swimming lesson but given the choice I would recommend choosing the Pickering recreational complex for swimming. Not only is the pool at Dunbarton is small but the change rooms are in a bit of disrepair. someone tracked poo in from outside on their shoes and right through to the pool deck. Sure there is a sign that says no shoes on the pool deck but does anyone listen? only me its seems! They also have a seating area with 3 small benches which are certainly not enough when there are 30 kids at any given time. Shape up or ship out Dunbarton.
I have four awesome children who all attended Dunbarton HIgh School. Thanks for the excellent instruction and coaching from the staff. Keep smiling and training the next group of young people.
this school worsened my mental health to the max and literally ruined me 0/10 do not recommend if u love ur child dont send em here‼
