The fish fry is really worth the 19 bucks! Wednesday and Friday it is all you can eat, make sure to go on one of those two days. We got an extra plate of fish, fries, and their darn good green peas! I love that they give you green sweet peas with the fish fry! Put the malt vinegar on the "chips" and enjoy! I've been here before. And again, good food, good service, and worth the wait! We waited a half hour for the table. We went across the street to a bar. They called us when our table was ready!
Nice and cozy little place! Was so happy they had Tennent’s Beer on tap! Service was good, and food was great. Portion sizes were perfect. Loved that the place wasn’t full of tv’s and a ton of nonsensical noise. A perfect place for a cozy dinner with a perfect pint!
Amazing neighborhood pub with great food and an awesome UK heavy beer list. Two fireplaces, no tvs, no frills, and always a good time! Wednesdays and Fridays it’s all you can eat fish n chips!
I tried Belhaven Twisted Thistle & Belhaven Scottish Ale. Both was the best beer I’ve ever had. It taste fresh, smooth & homemade & was told one of them was a 300 yr old recipe, just top-notch. Zoey was nice, beer knowledgeable & attentive. Friday all you can eat fish was ok, it could’ve been thicker and less on the greasy side. The peas was cooked perfectly. I would definitely return for the beers. They also are scotch friendly.
This is a great little pub to go to. Every time we are in the area we always make sure to have time to stop in. This place reminds me very much of a pub you’d find in the UK. They have a huge selection of scotch for you to try. The food is fantastic! I usually get the fish n chips, which is the best in the city, but their other food is just as great! They have a patio apparently but I’ve never been out there. The service has always been amazing and they’re very friendly. My husband and I have recently gotten into scotch but don’t know much and they’ve been very helpful with suggestions and recommendations. They do have washrooms but it’s a one stall for men and one stall for women. The aesthetic of this place alone helps you feel relaxed. Great place to go to and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Finally stopped by while in the area, even when we weren't hungry. Since this has been on my list, I figured I could at least split a meal with my boo. It was nice that it was still quite lively Sunday evening. When we walked further into the place, we were told to seat ourselves anywhere. Ambiance is great and definitely want to return for their lovely patio. It definitely helped that we ended up sitting by some native Scots. We opted for a Scottish Ale and Carlsberg and shared the shepherd's pie. All were enjoyed, especially the food. Just no fuss, simple, good, comforting food. I initially wanted their famed fish and chips, but figured I would return on a day when I could better make use of their deal...speaking of deals, this place definitely has some of the best daily specials - ayce fish and chips, ayce bangers, two for one entrees... Overall, service was pretty good. Food was solid, along with their prices. Duke of Perth will definitely be a regular destination, when I want something more laidback. Definitely a place for great convo.
We went on Wednesday for the all you can eat fish and chips, we were there quite early so seats were readily available. They have an extensive whiskey list as well as a great beer list. Our fish and chips was fantastic, above and beyond our expectations. It arrived quickly, and piping hot. The fish was well battered and crisp, with a good tartar sauce on the side. A generous portion of well salted chips on the side. The servers were attentive and refilled chips or fish ad hoc as requested.
Haven't been here in years and had a taste for some fish n chips. They still got the touch. Fish was delicious. Fries were spot on and I love the fresh green peas they use. Drinks were fairly priced and placed together well. And the staff as always are a delight. This is a great spot to come and visit for a meal and a drink or just even for some drinks. Nice fireplace and cozy.
My kind of place. Cozy, food is great. Beer even better. Belhaven… oh my god. Have you ever tried Black Stout? You should!
The best Fish and Chips in Chicago! Bar none. A fantastic Scottish Pub. No tv's so you can have a conversation with friends. Great Burgers as well. Oh and the Scotch list is huge and inclusive.
