I showed up for my annual appointment with him at his Smythe Rd. office only to find an empty space. No letter...no phone call...I was his patient for 15 years or so.. I went without a family doctor. The following year I was diagnosed with glomerulonephritis. My creatine level upon admission was 1032. The doctors told me that had I been diagnosed sooner I might have saved my kidneys. Perhaps annual bloodwork the previous year might have detected the irregularities...With 15 plasma replacement treatments and immediate dialysis I managed to save some kidney function...I am on dialysis 3 times a week for the rest of my life as I have chosen not to have a transplant.

He has a ton of patients often 100+ on any morning and he still has the time to help me out if I ask for it. He always refers to me by my name, and asks about the health issues I spoke about in prior appointments. He remembers who I am and makes me feel like I'm a human being. He's caring, empathetic and lets you know you're doing well in your treatment at every milestone or every carry you earn. Be honest, try your best to stay on the right track and you'll have a good relationship with him and he'll help you when you need it. I find him easy to talk to, he's blunt, he doesn't waste time on things that don't matter. He quite possibly saved my life several times over without even knowing it or getting a thank you. My chronic pain doctor referred me when I was in denial about my condition and looking back it was the best thing anyone has done. I recommend Dr. Ujainwalla highly and I've referred a close friend there in the past based on my experience. Also Recovery Ottawa is new and has a really nice office and the staff refer to me by name which makes me feel like I am not just another number.

Don't let his "point blank" persona intimidate you, he is so fair, and so knowledgeable, and non judgmental, you will walk out smiling! This Medication changed my life, within two weeks, I had zero need or want for any narcotic medication, and no want for a higher dose once my pain was controlled. I got my life back!!!

Dr.Mark is a drug pusher, I would tell him im in pain and he said hes not a pain doctor but kept increasing my dose until i was at 125mg for a couple years, he never once asked me to drop my dose or start a plan to reduce. All he wants it to keep you on Methadone or Suboxone for as long as he can so he can make money off your urine sample and every prescription he writes, If you want a chance at recovery go to Recovery Ottawa West in Bells corners, they actually help you get off Methadone and Suboxone Dr.Mark had ruined my life by increasing me to 125mg of methadone when he should have kept me at 70 when i was stabilized, but was still in pain so he would mark it down as withdraw on his sheet and increase me 10-15mg until I was at 125 which I should NEVER have been at. Dr,Mark is detrimental to every patients health he has who is on Methadone or Suboxone. Once an addict always an addict and Dr,Mark is now addicted to money and not helping his patients instead of his prior addiction to alcohol. Maybe the problem is that he's not a former Opiate addict ,just someone who had alcoholism which is a different spectrum of addiction Only people who give him good reviews are because he's giving them exactly what they want and not taking it away from them Ive seen hundreds of patients falling asleepnodding waiting to see him for a prescription. STAY FAR AWAY if you're concerned about a family member and their addiction problems, please go to Recovery Ottawa West where they will help you instead of treating you as a number and dollar signs. Mark if you're reading this I'm sorry but its the truth and the truth hurts, you helped me off of Pain Pills but that's all you ever did, move me to methadone and nothing else, never once did you ask me to go down in dose and i'm so thankful i'm at another clinic even though you're name is connected to the clinic im now at. I really hope you change your Method of Madness and actually help people, don't just help them off pain medication and heroin, help them get off the methadone and suboxone as well. Nobody should be on methadone for years for addiction. As soon as you're stable you should start making plans for your patients to reduce their doses slowly, not just keep them at the same high dose for YEARS which helps nobody but YOU
