Dr. Daryl E. Smith, DDS

I waited a little over an hour to be taken to the back. The girl that cleaned my teeth was very nice and she did a good job. The dentist wasn't happy about the condition of my teeth and he made sure I knew that! I hadn't seen a dentist in 15 years so my teeth weren't in good condition and I let him know that before he even looked at my teeth. That was about 3or so weeks ago and I still haven't gotten a call back to make the next appointment to start fixing my teeth. The girl at the counter wasn't very nice or informative about the next appointment process. So I went because I finally have insurance and my teeth hurt and the only thing theyve done, is clean my teeth and took x-rays. I have Medicare insurance and so far haven't been able to find any other dentist that takes my insurance. I'm still in pain and nothing has been done to help me.

From the dental hygienists to the front desk reception, the experience is always excellent. I have had at least 5 appointments, and Dr. Smith has NEVER taken the time to INTRODUCE HIMSELF, SPEAK w ME, or REMOVE HIS MASK. He walks right in and says, "Open." He seems like a nice enough guy but has lacked the customer service skills previous dentists had given me. I'm not asking that he have extended chats or take his mask off during treatment. However, feeling like a "valued" customer would be nice. Since he's started on my teeth and has all the x-rays, it's best to let him finish. I dread the visits and his impersonal interactions.

From the previous reviews I was a little scared for my appointment today, but everything turned out better than I expected. The Dr was nice and so was all of the staff from checking in too x rays and too having all my horrible teeth checked out! I don't have 1 bad things to say about this place! Big thank you too the whole entire staff! Everyone was amazing and the Dr was nice and spoke BTW

Dr. Smith & his hygienist are very professional & through. HOWEVER the receptionist is very unprofessional & rude. And she was not only rude & unprofessional to me in front of my children but to another patient who came in. Let me start I made my appointment on Monday & she was able to schedule my 2 children for Wednesday the same week- I took the appointment. I made sure the dentist took my children's insurance because Medicaid gave each of my children different plans, she said they did. Tuesday I got a call confirming my appointments for Wednesday & I confirmed. Now here is where the rudeness begins.... today- Wednesday I leave work early & take my children out of school early and get them to the dentist a half hour before their appointment figuring I'd need time to do new patient paperwork. I waited at least 15 minutes before receptionist came to front. She immediately says I sure hope both children have us as their provider with their insurance or we will not be able to see them. I reply back- "I don't know because nothing was said when appointment was scheduled or when I confirmed yesterday, sure would have been nice if something was said prior to them leaving school early me we work early." In a rude tone she replies "fill out this paperwork pointing to clipboards and I will see what I pull up." And slams the reception window shut. She comes put to the lobby and tells me 1child can be seen,, the other can't. I tell her I will call the insurance company and she tells me they still won't see him becauseit won't show in the computer this time of day. I have work in Healthcare for 22years in billing & insurance & never heard of such a thing. She takes my oldest back. I call insurance explain im at the office & need it changed immediately so he can seen today. Insurance says no problem. I had to call the office phone so she'd come back to the reception desk. I tell her what I did and she says no he still can't be seen but the dentist wants me to come back with my other son. I go back and I tell her I work in healthcare & that I have never heard of such a thing & this is ridiculous. The dentist asks what's wrong and I tell him what his receptionist says- she corrects me that she's not his receptionist. I roll my eyes and finish speaking with the dentist. She tries to defend herself like a child to him, he just looked at her & she walked away. I slowed my roll as the dentist had sharp instruments in his hand working around my son with no eye protection. Other than no eye protection he was through & professional, as was the hygienist. But I knew this was the 1st & last visit, as long as the receptionist worked in that office. Dr. Smith get yourself a more professional front desk person!

First time patient and very pleased ! Best dental cleaning that I have experienced in many years . My teeth have never felt so clean ! I look forward to being a patient there and have full confidence in Dr Daryl Smith and his entire staff .

Saw Dr. Daryl today. Both he and the office staff were great. Office was clean and prices are affordable for those without insurance. Appointments are easily set over the phone with quick replies from the office. Pleasure to deal with. I will definitely be back for future dental work and with as many referrals as I can give.

AMAZING job by the entire staff!!!! I am a firm anti-dentist goer! I get scared beforehand and have to talk myself up for about a week before my appointment. I'm sure the staff could see my anxiety because my trembling hands and fidgety legs. They were so sweet and helped me calm my nerves by just talking to me through the process. Dr. Smith was the BEST! He was careful, he anticipated my twitches, and read my non verbal signals. He could see if I was feeling even the slightest bit of pain and would stop to help me out. I won't go anywhere else!

Dr. Smith and his staff were absolutely amazing. They are professional and make their patients feel at ease as they perform necessary procedures. This is truly the best experience I have ever had at a dental office. I am not at all anxious about my upcoming appointment. Thank you

I've been a patient here for 17 years! Dr. Smith and his entire team have ALWAYS been professional and very competent. As long as I'm in Jacksonville, I will continue to use Duval Dental.
