Celebrated my husband’s birthday with a phenomenal dining experience. Thank you for arranging the fantastic seats with amazing view for the birthday boy. Our service captain Kelly was excellent; everyone else was very tentative and professional as well. We truly enjoyed the service. Love every bite of the food, from the assorted breads with truffle butter to dessert, everything was delicious! We will definitely bring the family next time, love it!
We had their classic tasting menu with wine pairings. Everything was excellent! My favorites were the pasta and the fish. The service was warm and attentive. I like all their interesting plate choices for each dish. The whole dinner lasted almost 3 hours, we were definitely full at the end.
This is not a restaurant, this is a 5 star Dining and cultural experience. From the drinks through to desert, there's no question about their Michelin Star designation and top Italian restaurant outside of Italy award. Every bite of food was simply decadent. I highly recommend Don Alfonso and will definitely need to return to do their signature menu and wine pairing.
Absolutely fabulous! The food was wonderful and our servers were attentive and knowledgeable. The chef himself came out to explain one of our courses and to serve the risotto. We dined as a group of six and one thing perhaps worth knowing is that you may be asked that your whole table either do the tasting menu or the à la carte. It's possible this is just because we were a larger group. At any rate, this was not an issue for us and we enjoyed everything very much. Every dish was excellent, and we found the portions generous. We were there rather late in the evening so didn't get the most out of the view as it was dark out, but it was still a real treat to dine here and the atmosphere was lovely. Vegetarian options: I believe there was one vegetarian option per course in the à la carte menu.
We had the pleasure of being served by Kelly. It was my girlfriends birthday and the best gift she received was the impeccable service. The attention of detail and care given by Kelly throughout our dining experience was extraordinary. If you’re lucky enough to have Kelly as a guide throughout this adventure of spectacular food, you’re in for a treat. The food was a journey of flavours that were perfectly complimented by the following dishes. The view alone has a worth it. This dining experience is a must
Food was delicious with great texture, well presented, served at the perfect temperature. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly had a great relaxed energy, and never lingered or rushed us uncomfortably. Really professional, food was served in a very timely manner, water was always filled. Bill was about $700 for 2 people, parking was $25 at the hotel, price tag is justified for the quality, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend.
We went to Don Alfonso 1890 to celebrate our first day of marriage and had a truly incredible, unforgettable, and unique experience! We did the $200 signature tasting menu. They only do that or a 3 course set menu for $130. The volume of food is the same, and adjusted for number of courses. We debated over what to get and ultimately decided to take the plunge on the tasting menu. It was AMAZING. It was hard for us to know what to expect in terms of flavours based on the descriptions, but whatever came out was a culinary masterpiece. The bread wasn’t just bread - or was warm, fluffy, yeasty deliciousness and served with the most flavourful but smooth olive oil I’ve ever had and a black truffle butter I could’ve eaten like ice cream. The eel gelato with tagliatelle and pulverized egg yolk was honestly my favourite and I wouldn’t have thought that going in. Even my much less adventurous husband felt the same! Everything else was phenomenal and the chef is clearly a genius. From the beginning, service was impeccable. The welcome staff were lovely. More importantly, our waiter Gary went above and beyond. He was absolutely amazing, friendly, easy to chat with, had a good sense of humour, and connected with us right away on a more personal level. He was always there for anything we needed but without being overbearing and intrusive. He provided tasting notes, advice on how to eat some of the dishes to get the best flavours, and more. The sommelier even chatted with us and kept our wine topped up even though we only got one of the more affordable bottles instead of a wine pairing. At the end, they gave us dessert that actually said “happy anniversary,” which was technically true since it was 1 day of marriage! This was in addition to the set meal we had already had. Finally, after we settled the bill, the manager brought us a congratulations card, copies of our menu as a reminder of what we had eaten, and a wine stopper as a souvenir! Gary then offered us a tour of the restaurant, including a behind the scenes look of the kitchen and we got to speak with the chef. Needless to say, the interior is beautifully decorated - light, airy, romantic, and modern with a gorgeous view. As the sun set, the mood changed with it but only in the best and most seamless way possible. Everything was impeccable and they absolutely went above and beyond to make our special day amazing. I would highly recommend Don Alfonso 1890 to anyone looking for a memorable and delicious experience, a special occasion, or a romantic night out. Thank you so much to everyone who made our day unforgettable!!
What a treat to dine at this fine establishment as our first meal since lockdown. We opted for the tasting menu and the dishes were beautiful to look at, creative combinations think eel gelato and delicious! Great experience from beginning to end! The service, the food, the thoughtful birthday gesture - couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our night!
It was a very amazing experience. You go to a restaurant like this when you need an experience as well as good dining. It’s quite pricey but the experience was worth the occasion we were celebrating. About $200 pp without a wine pairing. This will be a place I will visit for the next special event in our lives. Make sure to reserve nice and early or you’ll be disappointed.
Absolutely amazing food. Michelin star rated, so expect VERY small portions, but it was all deliciously worth the experience. Our server, Rachel, was fantastic. We felt at home. This was for my birthday, a small gift was given! It was a beautiful experience. ~$600 for 2
