I had a disappointing experience with customer service during my recent visit. The staff seemed more interested in socializing among themselves than assisting customers. At checkout, the cashier ignored me completely, choosing instead to converse with a colleague in another language. While I respect linguistic and cultural diversity, I believe it's unprofessional to exclude customers from the interaction. This isn't about the variety of languages spoken, but about basic courtesy and acknowledgment. Furthermore, the store's selection was underwhelming compared to other locations. Additionally, the presence of panhandlers at the entrance added to an overall unwelcoming atmosphere. Given these issues, I'm unlikely to return.
I went to this store for over a year. I often came in with my electric scooter, everything was always fine. And then the other day I went into the store with an electric scooter again, I almost finished choosing goods, when some guy of Arab appearance, without a uniform, jumped up to me and started demanding that I leave the scooter outside, where homeless people were sitting under the doors of the store, or that I should leave the store. This was extremely unpleasant for me and I will probably never return to this store.
I love how this place is so close to my apartment. As such I shop there every few days I always seem to need something that they stock! I read a bunch of reviews that complained about the rude staff: I find the staff to be unfriendly some of the time but never rude, they are fine. They are just doing their job. The biggest problem here is that their parking lot is owned by Impark and they WILL ticket you $100 unless you register or pay. Who wants a $100 ticket for simply visiting a store?! There are often street people right outside the door, they can be intimidating. Overall I love the convenience and products, Dollarama don't leave!
The people at the register can kill a line up best i've seen. When they call in for help it's a lesson for all in retail to learn. Quick, accurate and friendly. Why 4 stars? They do not seem to re-stock very well. I've noticed a major improvement, recently. Also notable, they are open until 9 pm 7 days a week.
I bought a couple of items, I was the only one waiting to check out. The store was relatively empty. I said a cheerful hello to the check out lady, she ignored me and then proceeded to spend about 20 seconds trying to unravel a tape. She then proceeded to stick a piece of paper on an empty can, and then put it up on the window behind here. By this time I had been waiting a whole minute with no apologies or regard for me. She didn't flinch. I had to leave the store without making a purchase because the lady from what I could perceive did not want to attend to me. I came back after an hour when there were alot of other people checking out. She could not refuse to check out my items because there were others there to witness it if she didn't.
