District Café & Bakery

Sunday brunch. This is the place. I generally order the breakfast bowl which is $15. It’s a hearty mix of potato’s, cherry tomatoes and sprouts. A poached egg is included and 3-4 strips of bacon can be added for $3. The meal is filling but District Cafe receives 4 stars because the service and wait time aren’t managed well. Wait times and extraordinary long and staff need to smile and be more enthusiastic.

Fantastic coffee and delicious food from their full brunch to snacks as simple as the honey popcorn. Great space with lots of windows for natural light and bench seating. Awesome for catching up with friends, or having a meeting, wifi can be spotty though. People working are always friendly and attentive. Service varies between ordering at the counter during the day to evening and brunch table service.

Love the appearance of this place. It’s very open and they have lots of plants. Always seems quite busy which is great to see. Their drinks are also quite delicious and not very expensive. I would definitely recommend this place.

I would give a 4.5 if it was an option. As far as small coffee houses go this is among the best in yeg... The other best are also owned by the same group. If district is full, head to elm cafe, both are very good!!

Food was GREAT! The chefs really know their stuff, the flavours were amazing. Great atmosphere and decor, bright and sunny location. The service was terrible. Our wait staff checked on us twice after seating us, once to take our order and then 15 minutes after our food had been brought to our table (by a different server). We had no cutlery during that 15 minutes, and my food was prepared incorrectly. We didn't see our server again after that until she brought the bill. Other servers had to keep stopping by our table to make up for her lack of service. The food is worth the price which is great because the service definitely wasn't. Still, this place is worth repeat visits for brunch!!
