Visited Menla for a site inspection prior to hosting an event here in a few months. I found the staff to be very friendly and knowledgeable, and eager to assist. The grounds and meeting spaces are beautiful, well manicured. Lots of love goes into this place, it's obvious. Enjoyed the wildlife and hikes, truly beautiful and very quiet. Perfect place for a retreat. Add their delicious food into the mix and you won't want to leave!
I almost don’t want to give my review because I don’t want this amazing place to be over run with people But alas I have to say how amazing it is. Such a great spa and retreat center. It is tucked away in an amazing valley with great energy The spa treatment and feedback from the practitioners was life enhancing. If your in the Catskills and want a spiritual spa retreat this is the place. No glitz and glam just pure serenity.
This massage is. something you have to experience at Dewa Spa. Got a 90 minute deep tissue massage from Audra. Could feel her healing energy. Her technique is somewhat unusual in that she fully engages with both hands, as contrasted with most massage therapists who often engage one hand at a time. Audra didn't need coaching because she would energetically home in on areas needing special attention. She also has confidence in her touch and doesn't approach her work timidly. The dressing rooms are super clean and have three types of saunas. The shower, with 9 different heads to give a complete body wash, is great. Treat yourself to a session with Audra!
At the culmination of hosting a 3-day Yoga & Wellness retreat at Menla Retreat, it was time for some self-care. Sandra was an exceptional and wonderfully attentive, intuitive therapist for the 60 minute Well-Being massage. Beautiful, clean, state-of-the-art facilities check out the multi-head shower and lovely outdoor area with lounge chairs by the pool. Pool is not heated, but extremely refreshing on hot summer days. Definitely recommend booking services at least 4-6 weeks in advance. 4/14/23: UPDATE: 5-STARS still... This time I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a Menla Retreat and not be a host... I had the Arnica Massage from Ruth. She was extremely talented, observant, tuned in and attentive. Fantastic. I went in and out of consciousness and a dream state... I left her table not quite knowing WHO, WHAT or WHERE I was. It was deliciously delirious.
Retreat is great for a respite, excellent vegetarian meals. Regarding the spa, the staff was polite but the services were overpriced and did not live up to the descriptions on their website. The bathtubs were too small to relax in, the Tibetan massage was underwhelming. If I go to the retreat again, doubt I will book any spa services.
We selected Menla as the host for our Energy Medicine Squared 6 day program, and the warmth of the staff, the powerful healing energy of the location, and the gourmet vegetarian cuisine created the perfect container in which healing energy could flow. Everywhere we turned, there was magic. The administration worked very hard every step of the way to make sure the program was a success. We are exceedingly grateful to Menla - the amazing support staff, the chef, and Michael Burbank - for making this program a success. Highest recommendation. I recently moved to the area and needed a place for healing. Menla does it all. I called the day of and they had an opening so I was able to get in for a deep tissue massage. The amenities are a huge plus. Robes, sandals, relaxation room, delicious spring water cleansed with crystals, face creams and serums in the locker rooms. The steam room and saunas are amazing. I highly recommend getting there early and taking advantage of the facilities before your appointment. Frost desk was super sweet and welcoming. I’m excited to go back!!
The spa is an exceptionally special place. The staff are all so welcoming & sweet. From booking over the phone all the way through checkout… it’s so rare to get such good customer service anymore. I truly felt pampered and welcomed into the space. I basically floated my way out the door after my massage. I loved every moment spent here & I wish I never had to leave! They also have the best skincare products for sale, specifically the skin dew. Definitely take the time to try that when you’re there! I am local, so luckily I can come back soon. Many thanks to the Dewa staff for giving me such a beautiful experience!!
Dewa Spa is on the magical sacred land which is gorgeous in an of itself. Then entering the this spa which is more a temple space, already is relaxing. The body-work offerings are varied and the practitioners are well-experienced and caring. Along with a treatment you have access to the beautiful change rooms equipped with spotless showers, sauna and steam room. Great way to spend the day in self-care.
I booked 3 spa treatments 2 weeks in advance for my wife and 2 daughters for a birthday. Filled out 9 pages of paperwork. The morning of the treatment, a lovely women calls and informs me that due to the "weather" the appointment is canceled. Apparently the therapist cant drive in the rain. I was told about the horrific conditions on the mountain, as I looked out the window and only saw a wet road. For fun, I drove up the mountain road an hour before our appointments and saw a very safe wet road. Lots of people driving. They have no plan for an unprofessional therapist who cant get out of bed. Ruined our whole day. Very unprofessional. Recommend a spa that cares about their customers and respects our time.
