I’ve tried to speak to two managers twice now about resolving this issue. No avail. So here’s my story as I want to do my due diligence as a consumer. Went to Derek’s to have my new car washed- my reason for going there was because my car was dirty and I didn’t want an autowash to scratch it since I just recently purchased it. I explained the situation to the man who washed my car, he got it in and 30/40 minutes later I got my car back with hologram scratches and swirls EVERYWHERE, and more prominent circular scratches all over my hood. The manager (the man who washed my car) took no accountability with what happened, told me I was wrong, told me that those must have already been there despite the fact that this is the first time my new car was washed. He did however state he could fix it if I wanted to pay a minimum of $365 (their hourly rate). I tried to reason with him, (as I understand this could easily be a “he said, she said” situation), but he then called me a liar and raised his voice like a 5-year old. It’s a bummer because I heard Derek, the owner, is pleasant to work with (a friend told me she had a good experience with him before). But Derek apparently no longer lives in state- and now there’s an ill-tempered, unprofessional yahoo working in his place. Proceed with caution, y’all.

I purchased a Groupon Voucher a few months back after reading all the amazing reviews about Derek's Auto Detail. I took my Lexus SUV in today to have it detailed so I could take pictures of it and get it ready to sell online. I drove it home and proceeded to take pictures. After the exterior pictures were taken I moved on to the interior and that's when I noticed the damage above the glove compartment. A chunk of the plastic was missing. I emailed them right away and here is what the response was: Tue, Jan 9, 2018 at 3:05 PM Me: To whom it may concern, I brought my Lexus SUV in today to get detailed so that I can take pictures to sell my vehicle. When I proceeded to take pics of the interior I noticed a chunk of plastic missing on the dash (I have attached a picture for you to view). Can you please have the manager call me so we can rectify the problem. Thank you Sandy Tue, Jan 9, 2018 at 3:58 PM Me: It's actually above the glove compartment, not the dash. After sending you an email about the damage I started to read all the reviews on you guys and I see that I'm not the only one having issues. No point in having your shop manager call me as I can see Derek's Auto doesn't take any responsibility. My advice to people that already have a Groupon for this place take pictures of the interior and exterior of your car before going in. Or alternatively, do an inspection with them right there and then. My mistake was not to do either of these things. Also, I should have read the most recent reviews as there are a lot of negative things about this place. I'm not sure what could have changed from the time I read all the great reviews to now.

I purchased the $89 Groupon like so many others. The Good: The business itself and the people working here are bit rough around the edges but still friendly and polite. The exterior wash and wax on my car was performed well. They got me in on time and out when they said they would which was nice. Nothing was broken or damaged so I'm happy about that considering the nightmare reviews others have left. The Bad: The interior "mini detail" seemed to be nothing more than just a quick vacuum and wipe down of the dash and door upholstery with some ArmorAll. Certainly nothing you couldn't do yourself in 15-20 minutes at a Brown Bear. In fact that's where I ended up going immediately after the cleaning at Derek's, just to do a more thorough job myself. All in all I'm only giving this place 2 stars because essentially afterwards I realized that I paid $109 = $89 (Groupon) + $8.90 (WA tax) + $11.00 (tip) for what amounted to a hand wash and quick exterior wax. If I could do it all over again I would have just taken the same 3 hours and did the entire job myself and saved $75 or gone to a place with a better reputation for doing quality work. The part that annoys me most is Groupon. This isn't really a "deal" it's just a very simple way for Derek's to hike up the price of their services to an absurd level (given what you're actually getting) and then use Groupon as a marketing tool to bait people in under the premise that you're getting a "51% Discount". Could be a fine little business if it had a better employee training program and new ownership / a better management team. A real pity.

Great establishment, the waiting area and bathroom (a pet peeve of mine) were clean and well maintained, will come here regularly from now on.

Nice detailing. You don't need to get Groupon coupon. I had $89 Groupon and he said I can simply pay him $89 for same Groupon instead of using it.
