Delta Lake State Park

Story

Delta Lake State Park is a 720acre New York state park located on a peninsula extending from the southeast shore of Delta Lake in the Town of Western, in Oneida County, New York, United States. It is located off New York State Route 46, southwest of Westernville.HistoryThe peninsula that today contains Delta Lake State Park was created when the Mohawk River was impounded in 1908 to form Delta Lake, a reservoir intended to supply water to the New York State Barge Canal. The New York State Canal Corporation leased approximately 350acre to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for the creation of a state park in 1962. In 2005, it was announced that the Canal Corporation would officially transfer the park's land, along with an additional 370acre, to the <abbr title="New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation">NYSOPRHP, bringing the park's total area to 720acre.FacilitiesThe park offers a beach, picnic tables and pavilions, a playground, a food concession, trails for hiking and bike riding, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing, recreation programs, a boat launch, a campground with 101 tent and trailer sites, showers and a dump station.

First time staying at this park. Park was very clean and quiet. Female ranger was very rude with policing noise control. Normal campfire talk/noise is not acceptable to the rangers. ANY noise after 10 pm is not tolerated. Not a place to stay if you have teenage kids. More geared for the very very young or the very old. Will not be back to this park.

I have lots of wonderful memories of spending time as a child... Camping and swimming in the summertime, as well as cross-country skiing in the winter time.

Amazing to walk out onto the sand while surrounded by the lake and beautiful fall colored trees. The playground for kids was great and the park was clean.

Great place to take the kids camping. Really large sites and plenty of clean restrooms. My only complaint is that they only have 1 shower building for over 100 campsites. Doesn't make that much sense. My advice is to shower late at night. It's usually not busy then.
