About

Deer Lake Resort is the premier destination for boaters, campers, RV'ers, and all outdoor enthusiasts.

Story

Welcome to Eastern Washington's best kept secret!

Deer Lake Resort is a secluded lakeside resort nestled on 195 acres of majestic mountainside and lush, green meadows. Our resort has been family owned for over 20 years. Deer Lake is a 1,200 acre spring and snow-fed lake that is home to some of the best lake fishing in the area. The crystal clear lake averages 75 feet in depth and is the focal point of a pristine forest area. This rich evergreen forest nurtures and provides habitat to a wealth of wildlife—from shy moose and graceful white-tailed deer to chirpy camp robbers and unforgettable Canadian geese.

Deer Lake Resort is located just North of Spokane on Hwy 395 South; only 53 minutes from the Spokane International Airport and a mere 15 minutes from Chewelah and Deer Park Golf Courses. It is conveniently located 25 minutes from major shopping and dining. We offer rustic cabins, covered wagons, and condo's all for rent; along with RV and tent sites. Deer Lake Resort looks forward to providing you with a great vacation experience.

Staff was very friendly and pulled out all of the stops to make sure our stay was a good one! Tent camping spot was clean and fairly private. Breakfast on the weekend, firewood delivery to camp site, swimming, watercraft rentals, cool gift shop with snacks, kids play area and they have balls and horseshoes you can borrow! Not too far from Spokane! We will go back to camp in one of the wagons!

After planning a trip to BC for over a year, we were forced to cancel our trip due to wildfires and the resort we were going to stay at was put on evacuation alert. We scrambled to find somewhere to go, since our entire family had a week and a half off work and now nowhere to go. We came across deer lake resort's website, so we called to see if they had any availability on such short notice. We ended up making reservations for 6 nights in 'rosebud', a daylight basement of a house they rent. We found pictures online and it looked very nice. We arrived late Friday evening (it was about an 8 hour drive from where we live) and checked in around 7:30. The first thing we noticed that was odd was we were required to pay our entire bill upfront. No hotel, campground, or resort we had been to prior to this required payment when you check in. The next thing we noticed when we walked into the place we were staying was that it looked nothing like the pictures on their website, or what we were told when we made reservations. Online, it listed some of the amenities, that included a fireplace and cable TV. The fireplace was a portable unit that plugs into the wall, and there were only a handful of channels available on the TV. We were told when we booked that the lake and the dock for our boat was right outside the door of the house. In reality, the lake was about a 200 yard walk down a very steep hill. Early the next morning, we got a call from home and we were forced to leave due to a family emergency. When we checked out, my dad asked if there was any way we could get at least a partial refund since we only stayed one night and our boat never even touched the water. Mind you, when you book, they charge you for the first night of your stay as a deposit. The person in the office (we are assuming the owners) said she would have to talk to her husband and that my dad should call her back on Thursday (it was Saturday when we left), and seemingly tried to get my dad out of the office as quickly as possible. My dad tried to call and talk to someone on Tuesday, because we didn't want to wait to get an answer. When someone answered and he asked to talk to the lady who checked us out, he was told she was outside moving her car and would call him back when she got inside. An hour passed and still no call back, so he tried calling again. The same person answered the phone and told him that she was busy and she wouldn't have an answer until Thursday. So we waited two more days and called back today (Thursday). When he asked to talk to the lady again, she 'wasn't there, and would be back in about an hour. She will call you back.' Two hours passed and still no call back, so he called again. He finally got ahold of the right person, and she refused to give us any sort of refund. In total, our bill was around $1100. The only thing they offered was to give us credit to come back next year. We declined because it is about twice the distance we usually go, and the only reason we came is because our original plans were cancelled. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. We saved up for this vacation for over a year, but it was ruined because this resort refused to give us any money back even though we had to leave due to circumstances we had no control of.

Couldn't even begin to state how much I loved this place. The best crew. Beautiful lake. Gorgeous surrounding. Endless things to do!

We stayed in cabin. Never again unless they change to a somewhat decent bed. Metal futon that was the most uncomfortable thing ever. Even worse than an old hidebed. On other hand people are nice, lake is beautiful, but hard to appreciate when you can't sleep some what comfortably. If bed was decent price for stay would be decent, but not when you can't sleep.
