What an amazing evening we had tonight dining at Dear Friends for their Fortified Wine experience. Every drink was full of flavour and paired with the food in the most divine way! Brad, the chef made every morsel of food with the utmost flavour that had our mouths exploding with flavour and wanting more! Their staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and take such great care of you. We can’t wait to return for the next dining experience!
One of the best cocktail bars in Dartmouth & Halifax. The cocktails were delicious and quite refreshing made with high quality liquor. Great selection of classic cocktails and signature ones. I had airplane mode and alter ego signature cocktails. We were lucky to be there on happy hour, when you can get 6 fresh delicious oysters with one cocktail. One of my favorite spots for cocktails in HRM.
Cozy and welcoming! We had a wonderful evening this weekend at Dear Friend. They are very accommodating and friendly to plus-size patrons. The drinks were dangerously yummy, and the food was the absolute best. The service was so genuine, that you'll want to go back again, and again, and again.
I love the people who work here - friendly and genuine - they feel like such a close knit crew. Every cocktail I’ve had exceeds my expectations and one of my fave bartenders always brings me different flavours of shots to try, I just love her! The ambiance and music is perfection, I want to be here every weekend!
Cozy spot for cocktails and delicious plates. The cocktails are of course amazing, but the food and the vibe complete the trifecta. The patio is lovely and is dog-friendly, too. Inside can tough to get a spot on busy nights, but it's worth trying! Last time we had oysters, a dip, and some yummy cocktails. Always a great playlist going as well!
February 2022 Dine Around menu here is incredible and only $40. Don't miss out! All the food was SO good! Edit: Since the dine around menu was so great the first time, I went back with another friend to have it again before the month is over. There were a couple things on the menu that weren't available, but luckily not what we wanted anyway, it appeared. But then the server informed us that the duck confit and mushroom risotto was just mushroom risotto since they had no duck confit. We had both gone there to eat that meal anyway, so we decided to get it anyway as the menu is small and there's only two other mains anyway, neither of which we were interested in. We were thinking there would be a larger portion of risotto, or maybe some extra mushrooms or something to make up for the missing duck, or maybe a cheaper price? There was the same amount of risotto, no extra mushrooms or anything else, and the meal was the same price as if it had the duck confit. This is so frustrating for me that they would sell you essentially half the entree no meat at all and just charge the same price. I've adjusted the review from 5 to 4 stars. The food was still tasty! If you don't have everything in the dish, something needs to make up for it IMO. They could easily have just made the risotto portion larger or something. The kitchen did prepare the wrong appetizer for me, so I ended up getting an extra free app, which was nice for me, BUT my friend who was trying the restaurant for the first time ended up with nothing at all to make up for not getting any duck. He had a mocktail to drink, essentially some juice. They could have comp'd that or something to make up for no duck, but to just charge full price is unacceptable to me. The servers were very nice and provided excellent service, so I don't see this as an issue caused by them!
The staff are super friendly and the food and drinks are amazing. They also have some delicious non-alcoholic cocktails for those who don't/can't drink! The Nitro Espresso Martini was so good!!!
Had a very good experience here, we just came for cocktails but the service was excellent. The recommendations were great as the server knew the options extensively and could provide guidance. The drinks we ended up with were amazing, I had the bartender choose my cocktail with a little guidance of what I like, and it turned out excellently. The drinks were interesting to look at and to taste, we will be returning to experience more of what this place has to offer!
Best cocktail bar!! Mona the bartender is insanely talented and a breath of fresh air!! Super friendly and beyond talented especially with the bartenders choice. Highly recommend!
What a find! We popped in to check Dear Friend Bar out for the first time. Cozy atmosphere any a crazy-amazing stocked bar, you'll discover a world of fancy cocktails and mixed drinks and hand chosen beverages. I discovered an amazing new cider made here in Nova Scotia. At $25 a bottle I almost decided against it but it was worth every penny. It was incredible! We will be back again soon - we can't wait to enjoy a warm evening on their patio.
