Deadhorse Hill
"We're currently pausing from our deadhorse hill casual fine dining atmosphere as we rebuild. We serve dinner 4 nights a week + sunday, accepting walk-ins for indoor dining. We offer take-out, and cocktails to-go in a wine shop setting. So sorry we are not yet taking reservations at this timePre covid version of ourselves: deadhorse hill is a seasonal american restaurant located on main street in downtown Worcester. A restaurant inspired by the New England landscape. We rely on the hard working farmers throughout the northeast and the fishermen along the coast to provide the best possible food at the table. In the evening the dining room offers a prix fixe menu that speaks of the season, varying based on the availability of ingredients."

We told our server 2 out of 4 are vegetarian and she was amazing, asking about food allergies, preferences. The chef made 2 wonderfully presented dishes: tacos using their own handmade tortillas with some incredibly tasty and spicy veggies Sauteed veggies on a bed of mashed potatoes this dish was barely warm When we got there the place was just opening. When we left, it was jam packed and becoming uncomfortably loud. It's obviously successful, obviously overrated. The other dishes were a cheeseburger and a salmon dish. One of the other couple is an amateur chef who stated his similarly prepared salmon was better. The cheeseburger was well prepared, as were the french fries - for $80+ per person which includes just one of the lower cost bottle of wine for the table. We won't be going back, For this amount of money, other than the service, the food is just not worth it. Vegetarian options: They make these on the basis of your request. The chef doesn't always deliver on the level of spiciness. The described salad wasn't exactly as delivered. The food wasn't delivered while warm. Some basic operational kitchen fails. Especially at a dinner costing $80+ per person. Dietary restrictions: The server was quite attentive about these. Besides the 2 vegetarians addressed elsewhere in this review, one of the other party spoke about a possible allergy to shellfish. The server was perfect in her response and recommendations. Food allergies are treated seriously by this restaurant. It's a good sign. I wish other parts of the operation were as competently performed.
The oyster were fresh and best we had in a while. The pan roasted chicken was cooked perfectly so the meat was tender and juicy and the skin was crispy.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: YesDelivery: NoCurbside pickup: No
Wow! It is rare we go out to a meal and wonder… “ when is the last time I had such good food?” The only thing I didn’t like about this place is the name. We were a party of three and we each ordered different things from the menu squash risotto, pan seared chicken, short ribs, Cesar salad and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We exchanged bites with each other and everyone agreed: each was equally fantastic. Service and help pairing meals to drinks and dessert was thoughtful, patient, accurate and we never felt rushed. The peanut butter sorbet and chocolate chip combo = magic! Highly recommend and wish we were local so we could enjoy this restaurant regularly. Tip: we arrived at 5:30 or a Saturday and were seated right away. A long line of hopeful diners that had to wait began to form about ten minutes later. As far as I know, they don’t take reservations so go early although it is definitely worth the wait!
What's not to love?! If you're looking for a night out or a date night spot in Worcester, look no further! They have a solid selection of wines and classic cocktails to choose from. Tons of vegetarian and vegan options, too. The menu isn't huge, but they have a bit of something for everyone. Overall, it feels "upscale," and is intimate at night. I can also see this as the perfect spot to start the evening! Fair prices and wonderful quality.
You will not have a better meal or experience. If you have major dietary restrictions you might have a hard time finding something their menu changes frequently but even as a life long vegetarian it's amazing. Highly highly highly recommend.Food: 5/5
Amazing food and service! We had the pork shoulder, risotto and oysters, everything was superb. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Worcester. Vegetarian options: Very hearty and flavorful vegetarian options available!
This was a great find. The employees are very nice and helpful. The burger was incredible!! They have retro glasses for your drinks. Just a cool place with great food. Definitely check it out!!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: No
Love coming here to catch up with friends we always split entrees so we can try every thing. It’s always so good. And from scratch cocktail are always delicious. Perfect vibe.
I have conflicted opinions about deadhorse hill. The vibe is great. It is a nice space. Drinks are always good. The menu changes and both times I was there in 2022 I got different meals. The first meal I had was good, but I wouldn't say it was amazing and the prices are kind of high. Everyone else seemed very pleased with their meals though. The second time I went was horrible. Service was great and drinks were great, but the appetizers and mains were lacking flavor and just not great. None of us finished our dishes and ended up eating when we got home. For over $250 for 3 people, I expect the food to be amazing. I'll probably give them more chances, as I see potential.
The menu is small which should tell you every meal is carefully crafted with the finest freshest ingredients. Staff was incredible, helped us pick a bottle of wine and helped with every detail of our incredible meal. We’ve never been disappointed and we can always count on a fun new culinary experience every time we go. Pic is of the perch
