Dakota County Jail

The food at this prison is exceptional. The guards play cards and read you stories. The restroom facilities are top of the line and very clean. The sleep number bed was a little hard for my liking but I got used to it. My only complaint is I only could see my girlfriend once per week . They did allow my wife to come in three times per week. The field trips were excellent. I especially enjoyed going to the high school.

Brought a female friend to be checked in and transported to the Ramsey County Workhouse for a weekend on a DWI sentence. She arrived at 5:30 for a 6pm booking. She was left in a small room with male inmates, no water, no AC, no bathroom for 3 hours with no explanation. I am applauded at the complete disrespect from this office. There needs to be some drastic attitude changes on how to treat human beings. No one should be treated like this.

EDIT: sheriff emailed me the same day and promised to get to the bottom of this and apologized. On hold for so long! Every time I tried to explain why I called, I was interrupted and transferred to a voice message system. I called 4 times and finally had to yell, "please don't transfer me!!" This time when I called, I was inquiring about visiting hours. This lady proceeds to inform me that I cannot just show up to the jail; The inmate has to give me a set date and time. I told her I do not want to just show up. I'm curious when visiting hours are. We went back and forth like this for a few minutes. She finally raised her voice and said, "YOU CANNOT JUST COME IN WHENEVER YOU WANT." I calmly replied, "I do not want to come in at all!! I'm simply wondering when visiting hours are!" She then quickly blurted the times out, and I asked her to slow down so I could write it down. I asked her why she couldn't have just told me the visiting hours when I asked the first time? Obviously you can't just show up to a jail to visit someone. She has two ears and one mouth for a reason. I was not listened to at all.

Man the correctional officer's that work here are the most disrespectful moo people i have ever dealt with most of them should not even be working there they do not know how to handle a small situation that could be resolved their first thought is to pull their taser and taze you who are policing these animals that work at the Dakota County Jail somebody should do an internal investigation on the training in and the way they treat the inmates because they may act one way when somebody is overseeing that they are doing their job but they are a whole nother way when they have the jail two there selfs if you ask me these are the real criminals the supervisors so-called sergeants and corporals sit and do not do their job they don't deal with the inmates most of time they make the situation worse than what it should be and people are leaving in ambulances from their daily it's the disrespect I went in there on a DWI and was supposed to be booked and released I was a book and release and I still got tased that makes absolutely no sense you go there to get book released get tased and then released nobody's police in these animals that work here and that is just wrong
