Fantastic place! We all were mesmerized with the views, and nature even now is still winter. Ideal for kids, for adults, for anyone who loves nature and its beauties. The scenic falls are just stunning! Ideal for a day break in a weekend. Hiking is also nice here! It'a must and just 1 hr away from New York. The bottom level has just amazing views as the top. Make sure you visit both spots, and walk the bridge above. We all loved it here!
I definitely love this place. It's a park you and your family can have outdoor fun together. It has magnificent scenic views and also good trails for 50+ people... There are ample parking spaces even when you visit here on weekends. Strongly recommended if you are around Croton...
Very nice park. For some reason, Google Maps brought me to the top of the dam. Before it brought me to the main park. You can hike down from the top on either side of the dam. I prefer the trail one closer to the parking lot. Will definitely visit again.
Gorgeous view of the aquaduct/dam, and of autumn foliage. Lovely bridge that you can cross but not with a vehicle. Plenty of place to park when we went. No bathrooms available at the top. Not sure about down near the dam, though. We did not go down the mountain to check. Wild...we watched a person scale the dam wall.
This park is a perfect place for a picnic or gatherings of some sorts for a minimal fee of $10.00 for non park members and $5.00 for park members. There were a few picnictables available on site but ample space to put up tents. A playground is also available for kids to play. A short distance hike up the dam and along the river banks is also open for hikers. In this place you get to enjoy a lot things.
This is a beautiful space. There are multiple ways to view the dam. From above or below . Land management was in great shape during our visit. Park was pretty clean. There was access to the creek on the lower side of the dam. There were several fisher people, one fly fishing. They both seemed to be catching fish. Lots of ducks. There are picnic benches.
Amazing view of dam from the bottom and the top. Lots of people just come here to relax, picnic and enjoy the sights. There is a trail to the top of the dam behind the playground. It says authorized vehicles only but it’s a maybe 15 or 20 min hike up. Or you can take the straight vertical path from the bottom of the dam on the far right of facing the dam from the bottom. See pics.
Good place to go with a family for picnic or short visit to see check dam. It has waterfalls from check dam, easy trails to hike with kids that leads to the top of check dam to see the gigantic reservoir. Some medium difficulty trail paths do exist for individuals. Cons: the park is not that well maintained compared to bear mountain park, grass dried up, lot of fallen dried leaves, bees everywhere, restrooms Park itself is 2/3 star but the dam views make it good visit
This is a beautiful park. The Dam is an incredible sight and has a nice walk in the woods to the top. Also has a little park fir the kids and a nice water fountain. Also has picnic tables. Nice place to past the day with the family and inexpensive. Playground: Has a jungle gym with slides for kids. Restrooms: Has plenty of porta potty for everyone. Dog-friendliness: Must have on a 6ft leach. Picnic area: Lots of tables for picnics, must get a permit for parties over 26 people.
Visited this park over the weekend. Beautiful weather for a hike. Amazing views. Colorful trees. Ample parking available. If one wanted to bring a basket and picnic there were benches and tables. Fresh air. A welcome respite from the city. Playground: Small playground area for kids. Restrooms: Porto potties Dog-friendliness: Dogs welcomed. Leashed. Picnic area: Tables and benches by the Dam.
