Awesome little hidden gem! NO DOGS ALLOWED fyi since its a preserve. However there's plenty of trails depending on how challenging you want them to be. Went in December and I recommend good hiking shoes and walking sticks as the leaves can make it a little slippery! trails are well marked and they offer a paper trail map by main parking lot in the white covered board. park closes at 4. also beware by the quarry that a known copperhead snake has been in the area recently! my son 7months old went rock scrambling for the first time here! super easy climb and great views minus graffiti. overall clean park to enjoy!!
My backyard hike with ample parking and clearly marked trails. Arrive early during the day for a quiet and less crowded stroll in the woods during the weekend. Great for families with young children.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
The trails here are absolutely beautiful. If you follow the map correctly it's very doable to get all the way around, there's no human trash anywhere distributing the nature and the trails were relatively empty. I can imagine during peak it will be gorgeous in here. That's even some picnic tables around in the front area that look really nice for that too.
There’s a lot of still-water in this area and a ton of bugs and mosquitoes in September. The trails are awesome and they had maps to take at the beginning of the hike. It is a generally flat walk through the forest. The area is very green and peaceful, other than the bugs
This is a hidden gem hiking spot, tucked away from all the traffic and noise of Westchester county. Unlike some other trail systems, you are quite isolated from the hustle and bustle of daily life. There are several loops available, covering several different types of terrain including forest, marsh, and a large pond. There's also an old stone quarry which you can climb up as part of your loop. It's a bit challenging with a toddler on your back but certainly manageable. We've seen all manner of wildlife here including: fish, snakes, turtles, frogs, and occasional deer. Word to the wise: the most common creature here is the MOSQUITO, especially near the water during the summer. Make sure to bring bug spray or hustle through the marshy portion of the loop.
My favorite local place to get away from the city. Great hike/trail. I got lost this time but it was well worth it.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
It's a beautiful place to take a hike. I loved the atmosphere and although the map may look boggling it's not that far to walk around. Could take you the whole day to walk the entire place if your early. Highly recommend it though.
Surprisingly, my first visit to cranberry Lake Preserve … and I only live 4 miles away There’s limited parking along the narrow looped entrance road into park … and it was a beautiful Fall Saturday afternoon , so folks were definitely out enjoying this beautiful park. We parked right in front of the Nature Lodge … on trail map - available in map box close to lodge. As busy as it seemed, as soon as we got 100’ past the lodge on the yellow trail, we’d only occasionally run into a passerby. Seems they’re keeping up with paths nicely, keeping certain areas elevated above low lying terrain. It was a quick initial introductory tour with a friend whose been here many times over the years … however, now that I see what I’ve been missing out on I definitely will plan to return soon to explore more. Families with children would love it!
Lovely hike. Beautiful spot at the Quarry. Even the trails were marked, we found it to be very confusing. I hike all the time and I have never looked at the map so much in my life. The new maps provided do not have the numbered crossing. Take a pic of the map in the visitors center that does have the numbers. It may help if you are doing a few of the trails.
I loved my walk here. Came on a Friday and while parking was a little short, I was able to find a spot. The hikes are pretty easy, nothing too hard but it’s still great. Lots to see and just being out is nice. I drove all the way from Queens and it was well worth the time I spent in traffic.
