Cross Fit Flathead

Members are kind and welcoming. The space is large and kept clean. There is a nice coffee/smoothie bar with quality products. The classes are fun. The bad; The owner consistently treats members and guests with disrespect. This individual also gossips about their clients to other members creating a toxic environment. They do some CrossFit but generally don't subscribe to CrossFit HQ methodology. CFF is a strength biased program but ironically schedules 2 annual (spring/fall) 5k runs without proper training leading up. It's no surprise that hardly anyone shows up on those days. Bad form abounds. Stripping weight off during a workout is not generally allowed. I'm convinced that they would have dropped the CrossFit Affiliation years ago but they are grandfathered into the original annual rate of $500/year.

Out of town guest: visited 4 times during vacation. Super reasonable fee. Open to drop-ins. Some boxes welcome & introduce the visitor--this isn't that type of box--which is 100% okay with me. The WODS were great, the members that I talked to were real friendly, and the owner was welcoming.

I have been doing crossfit for several years and have competed. I have been to different gyms in and outside of the United States, but this has been the worse experience for me. First of all, I understand everyone runs their gym differently and I respect that. Even though there are trainers there whose job is to train, I didn't mind paying extra for the one on one session that is mandatory before you decide to join, which I didn't think was necessary for me. Since the owner was away, I asked his daughter if I can still work out at their gym until he gets back. She asked permission and I was allowed. I paid and worked out a few days until the owner got back. He gave me a call to set up the one on one session, and I asked him if I can drop by and work out before our session the following day. He told me "no, if you want to work out, then go run a 5k mile". He also said other things in a manner that made me decide to cancel my membership. As a client who wasn't working out in that gym for free, I believe that I should be talked to with respect.

The coaches at CrossFit Flathead are amazing and supportive; if you are worried about a movement aren't able to perform it yet, they will help you modify it so you can be successful. The community is wonderful and kind as well, cheering each other on and helping friends out. Oh and let's not forget to programming... You will feel muscles that you didn't even know existed!
