Cromwell Dixon Campground

Beautiful, quiet, roomy spaces with nice picnic tables, fire rings with grills, vault toilets and ostensibly potable water. The water at the spigot was brown when we were there, but there is free and great tasting spring water about a mile or so west on route 12. It is marked with a sign and on the north side of the road. There is enough room for a vehicle and tents on the gravel pull-in, as the grass is quite long and ground uneven. We stayed at space 5 on the inside of the ring, and the outside spaces have even more room and abut the large fields. Lots of beautiful birds. Very grateful we stayed here!

A Stunning Surprise! In spite of a loss of large pine trees... and having no personal comparison, for us, this was a surprise. So peaceful and with a gorgeous sunset on a vast horizon. The rocky sloped landscape had a lot of wildflowers and made for a pleasant overnight stop with no expectations.

Very nice view, close about 15 miles to Helena. Has restrooms and potable water on site, along with fire rings. Some sites are more difficult to access, but if you come in the "wrong" way it becomes easy, just watch for traffic.

There is road noise from off in the distance. Unfortunately the beetle kill was bad and 80% of the trees had to be cut down, what a shame to loose so many huge trees. But I will add some pictures to show some remaining beauty.

Beautiful! Best camp ground I have been to since I was a kid. Our kids had so much fun here, we will be going back very soon!

Not many sites so it can fill fast. Nice large spaces Beautiful view and well maintained. Definitely would stay there again.

Convenient, inexpensive and has all the basics water, pit toilets, picnic tables & firepits. Pine beetle killed most of the large pines in this campground. The forest service has removed the dead trees so you don't have to worry about a tree falling on your tent or camper, but only a couple of sites have shade.

Awesome campground. Nice sites, tons of shade, hardly anyone here. Pedaling distance from the CDT/Switchback Ridge trails Mac Pass Downhill!

Pretty nice campground and not very busy which is nice. Most sites have pretty nice views too.
