Good meaty, beef steam buns. It's like classic Chinese Street foods. Very authentic China Chinese food.
An ok Chinese noodle joint. This replaced the curry place that used to be here. It adds more selection but the flavor has decreased. The food is decent with the meat dishes being the best prepared. The price is good as well. Parking is available from the mall with the side lot being the closest. They are a short walk from the number three road bus and the cambie bus. Plus they are close to the Canada line stop at Aberdeen.
Food is okay but the service is straight up bad. I waited in line for 20 minutes and the lady does not acknowledge me in the line at all. She kept taking orders from people who are shouting out their orders to her and not paying any attention to respectful people who are waiting in line. Some woman comes back to pickup her order and asks to buy more food from the buffet style food in the front. So the lady gave her all the buffet food and even packed her a free side. No one else in the line up got that and by the time it was my turn, she had given away all the buffet food that I was going to pick. So, I left to go order from the other food shops in the same food court. I went a few shops down to Lumingchun and ordered their number 14, a delicious spicy braised chicken with thick noodle. It tastes way better and the service was so friendly and fast. By the time I had gotten my order from Lumingchun, I turned around to see that the same group of people are still in line waiting to get food at Countryside Chinese Noodle. Absolutely ridiculous. Easily a 45+ minute wait for food court food at a lunch time and the food is not even worth the wait. One other time I was there, the lady was so rude and racist. She said that the lids that her Taiwanese supplier sent her were bad quality and kept bashing the fact that they were Taiwanese. "You know those Taiwanese people can't get things right" she said in Mandarin. You can bash your supplier and call their supplies garbage but you cannot blame it on their race. That's a real low blow and it shows exactly how low class this shop is. The first time I met this lady, she starts telling me about her old tenants. She basically bashed her old tenants who used to rent from her and called their food dirty and disgusting. Her old tenants moved only a few shops down from her shop and she has the audacity to put down other people's business when she can hardly run her own. She tells everyone everything that is on her mind, whether it be true or not is up to your discretion. This place and the lady who runs it is a disgrace.
Waited 30 minutes for a special bun that was already cooked and ready to be served. Don’t do it, the dough is dry and has no flavour to it. The filling is mediocre. There is not enough staff. When you have a line of people waiting to order but there is no one in the front to take orders it really is a mess. The lady would come to the front then run to the back for at least 4 minutes. The lady takes orders customer by customer. Meaning she will wait till the customers order is done before serving the next customer which is quite absurd. The efficiency and organization is outrageous. Waste of time and money. Took a bite of my bun and threw it out.
They would only tell you that it takes more than 30 minutes after you've paid for your food
Get their steamed buns. They are really big with lots of meat. Great authentic northern Chinese food here.
Great traditional styled food. I loved the noodle soups as I saw that the chef used a new wok of water for boiling the noodles instead of using the same water over and over again in other restaurants. The soup was also great and there is apparently no MSG. It was a good meal.
Place is the epitome of "Northern Chinese Hospitality", service is not rushed and very casual, things are a bit pricey BUT the food here is incredibly authentic, tastes like stuff I can only get from my grandparents back in northern china. Always worth the wait
Their steamed buns with filling inside are great value; lots of stuffing.
