This quaint spot was a surprise, but a welcome one. The layout is a little weird, with a mostly-packed small front area with a huge table, a booth, a bar, and that's it - but there's a more capacious back room accessible through a long corridor. The atmosphere is informal and service is personal and friendly. The food is slow to come out, but is worth the wait - the French onion soup was very good if a bit sweeter than we preferred, the baked Mac and Cheese was of high quality, and the Brie burger is something I want every restaurant to have. The pesto fries with aioli were very good and also very rich; they're cooked to be quite crispy, which isn't my *personal* favorite style, but they're objectively well-prepared. The hot dogs and tacos are supposed to be very good; I wish I could come back soon to try them out. There's a wide selection of craft beers and a standard selection of Coke products. Free refills may not be available on all soft drinks.

I visited this place less than a year ago. As a true beer lover I couldn’t be happier with this place. Their brews are amazing. Try a sampler to taste as many as you want to understand which one is your favorite one. Also the food deserved special thanks too. I had a pastrami sandwich which was very delicious too. You guys really know how to do everything in perfect way. Thank you. Will come back again.

Best burger I've ever had. Recommended by the desk manager at our hotel and I'm glad I listened! The atmosphere was very casual and my waiter was awesome. Very cozy family place. I live in central Jersey and this made the trip for me..oh yeah the garlic pesto fries were also great. .my wife and son devoured them in minutes!

Although seating is somewhat limited and the dining hall pretty noisy, Council Rock is a fantastic place to sit and chow down with a good drink. They have a wide variety of house brews and commercially available drinks, and the Americana food is simply divine. Visit on Friday for their fish fry. Slightly expensive but certainly worth it.
