Here was our order: 3 soups (broccoli one, tomato basil and the chicken noodle soup), a sandwich (pesto chicken sandwich) and 2 large Mac n cheeses (for the kiddos). This was the worst experience EVER and we are contemplating EVER going back because the food unfortunately was horrible! First let me add that we have been customers at corner bakery for over 8 years and have tasted a lot of their food and really liked it! Today, the soups tasted like they came out of a can, over salty and simply just NOT good. The tomato soup was sooooo sweet...it was unedible. The sandwich tasted dry (bread changed...chicken over dry....seemed like a cheap version of the actual sandwich) and the mac n cheese was just pasta with a tiny bit of cheese- not saucy like it used to be ($8 for each one we ordered....should cost more like $2 for the quality of this mac n cheese). We've eaten ALL these foods there before as we've been regular customers for sooo many years but it was overpriced food that was FAR from tasty (I don't have an issue paying those prices for what they used to have because it was GOOD food). I felt sooo bad to tell the manager that the food was bad but ended up doing so because we'd want to know if we managed the place. We also brought friends with us and they've never eaten there (they probably will never eat there again because they didn't like the place one bit). We discussed telling them and thought its best to share our experience with the manager since so much had changed for the worse. The manager apologized and said that they've been changing suppliers and she agreed with us that the tomato soup was super sweet (and mentioned she didnt loke it) and also said that the noodle soup tasted too salty at times and other times, too sweet. The manager agreed that the food was NOT what it used to be....soo im not sure if it's just this location that has bad food BUT know that we just ate at the corner bakery in downtown Chicago a month ago and have been regulars at corner bakery for over 8 years and NEVER had problems with the food. Soooo sad that this places' food is not good like it used to be. In the end, I ended up asking for a salad (ranch sante fe) and got it to go...I went to pay for it but was given to us for free (that WAS not the intention though but she probably felt bad for the food being bad). Anyways, the salad was sadly horrific too (mind you it's an $8 salad)..the container wasn't even filled half way with the salad...it looked like a side of leftover salad. Anyways, we will definitely not be going back here. We will be trying another location one last time before we give up completely on the whole chain. (Note about picture: it was less than half filled..take a look at the back of the container where you can see how low the salad is..mind you...I haven't even taken a bite yet)
