Coquitlam Property Rentals

AVOID Renting at this place at ALL COST! The people that manages this place are all related (literally) in scamming their renters. I recently moved out of this place because of the molds. The townhouses have molds in the winter so if you have young children who have eczema or itching problem you must avoid renting this place. When we moved out we are given a ridiculous cleaning sheets which has dollar amount beside it, example CUPBOARD if not cleaned $250.00 fine. We cleaned the place all day and it was CLEANER than we moved in. Our neighbor informed us that when two of their friends moved out they forfeited their $675.00 deposit claiming that the place is not cleaned per their preference, although they hired a professional cleaner to clean the place. I thought they would never do this to us as we would never leave the place dirty as that is not who we are. That day that I returned the key, the landlord was not present but she had another lady in the office. I returned the key and she asked me to sign the documents as they had already done the inspection and all is good - so I signed. I asked for a copy but she said they don't have a copy machine . THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY CLUE! I went back to the place as we still have some stuff by the car port.. A guy pulls in and claimed that he is the brother of the landlord. I asked him if we can walk through and do the inspection. He said "no need" as he already finished the inspection and everything looks good. The only thing that we need to do is bring the stuff that we had in the car port to the dump which we did. Few days later we found out that they left an envelop through our friends from another unit to give to us. We were amazed that they are now holding our $675.00 deposit and claimed that we owe them additional $36.00 as the cupboards are not cleaned. What they did is made me sign the inspection report but later added a fine that we did not clean the cupboard properly etc. and they did this after the fact. So I wrote them an email and asked for an explanation on how they can justify taking all of our deposit but no response. I am in the middle of complaining to the Rental Tenancy Act on this. IF YOU MOVE IN/OUT TAKE A PICTURE OF THE PLACE AND KNOW YOUR RIGHTS! If you want to be scammed then DO NOT rent from this place.
